What coat/jacket do you wear with boyfriend style jeans?

Today i wore my boyfriend style jeans, timberland boots(to stop me slipping in the ice) and my very unattractive waterproof fleece lined jacket that seems to have become my school run coat as its the warmest i own. I caught my reflection in the school glass door and i looked really big and shapeless.....any suggestions or does it not matter as its the school run? i also wore that outfit to do the shopping last week, had no idea i looked so bad.

I'd probably go for something a bit fitted to balance out the looser fit of the jeans?

First of all, don't worry about what other people think on the school run. The ones that matter won't mind and the ones that mind don't matter.

Secondly: Definitely fitted. I wear either:

Double breasted hip length wool pea coat.
A fitted (but gently a-line) mac which finishes mid-thigh
A hip length mac
Hip length fitted wax jacket
My ski jacket (for when it's totally bucketing down with rain)

Chunky cardis - either belted or those that finish on the hip - look fab too. They are great to pile on top of winter woollies when I can't face yet another school run in my coat.

Clearly I have too many coats

I have this dilema too miche8. In the spring/summer I wear a jacket a bit like this one:
Uniqlo or a cotton pea style coat from H&M (they have got lots in at the mo - esp in navy or beige).
Like tulpe says, Chunky cardis are def a good idea - I have this one from Fat Face (now half price and its a lot nicer and chunkier than the pic.here
