HELP! I have the mother and father of all style challenges!

DP and me have been invited to a corporate sports thing. The plan is lunch at the ground, match, then dinner in town. What the hell is going to get me through THAT kind of a day.............?

Need to wear school run waterproof uglybug coat with hood to cover potential rain/wind/snow.

Shoes/boots ditto.

Whilst looking gorgeous underneath for lunch.

And then making it work to "ta-da!" myself into glam and slinky for dinner at a glam and slinky venue that night.

Mainly on foot/in taxis with only venue toilets for glamming up in. Bag? I'll need a massive suitcase!!!!!

Bugger.
Tall order.

and wardrobe is in serious need of work, very, very low on options. Need to SHOP!!!!

Aagh. That is a nightmare scenario. I don't have the expertise to help you through this one, but bumping for you.
If me though I would go for:
Black trousers and boots with smart but warm top for daytime and
Killer heels, evening top and jewellery in bag for quick change in the loo later on.

Right well I think I would go for a LBD - hear me out i'm not mad...

Daytime at football:

dark grey dress or black knitted dress
With black opaque tights and pale grey cardi and classic biker bootsand a pashmina as a scarf. Resist the waterproof coat - have a cagoule that packs up tiny if you must...you won't want to carry a ski jacket around all day esp if it doesn't rain. Wear thermals if you are worried about being cold

For evening change tights to lace or patterned ones hearts or lots of choice and lose the cardi, pashmina that was scarf will do as a wrap. Sex up your hair with a clip or something and slap on smoky eyes etc.

Some of the examples are not quite right but you get the drift...got to run but might try again later!

Totally agree with redshoes..I have a black wrap dress that has long sleeves. If it was me I would wear it for the day do with a black camisole underneath (so a bit more demure), black knee high boots and a twinsest style cardie - either black or cream or something, minimal jewellery.

I would change into different tights and my fabbo leopard print high heels for the evening, whip off the camisole and the cardie and stick on some massive and very swingy diamante earrings as well as more make up and some dark lip gloss.

You will have to take a biggish bag though to hold the change of shoes etc! But you could always leave it in a locker at the ground!

I normally live in jeans for everything or I can do posh stuff. Its the in between I have real trouble with!

I am 37, size 12, longish brownish hair with highlights. I can scrub up well but only with massive effort....things like my farmers hands can look ok if I spend a long time on them

Have out of proportion legs which I hate so I can only do trousers, long dresses or dresses with boots....can't do dresses with heels really, I'm too self conscious. Figure could be good (was small waist and nice arms) but is lumpy and flabby at the mo.

Fg I can send you my special black wrap dress for a lend if you like! It hides a multitude of sins....I got it off Ebay ha ha! Its New Look but I have worn it to death, best tenner I ever spent!

Ok here goes...

This dress or this one from Oasis both look casual enough for day but also smart for the evening. For the day time wear over a pair of black skinny jeans with a pair of shoe boots. For the evening if you're feeling daring slip off the jeans and slip on some black tights. Shoe boots like these or these will work with both dresses. Or slip on some classic black knee high boots like these.

To keep you snug but stylish add a black leather jacket and a black or cream pashmina/scarf (which can also be used to shield hair in light rain). Keep a small brolly handy as well in case it pours.

Make-up wise the essentials are concealer, eyeliner and lippy. For day to night hair I'd advise going for loose curls, down in the day then for the evening pull back the top section, backcomb a bit then secure with a pretty clip. Add some big earrings and your done.

Heavenly outfits! I've never been in Oasis for donkey's years and I think you have opened my eyes to something that could work for me! I have horrible legs and knees so, if I was trying without jeans I'd need a length that,at least, reaches the knee then a boot to reach up to the knee. The flimsy material is exactly what I am comfortable in.

I can do jeans or posh cream wide legged evening trousers. This in between stuff is so bloody hard!!!!

Things I have that might work:

• knee length brown leather Hobbs boots these they're a bit old but brush up fine

• knee length brown leather casual boots similar to these but without the big buckle

• well-loved ancient past it white snow jacket which is snug and waterproof and has a massive hood

• 3/4 length brown coat, funnel neck, belted, looks good with a dress and I'd like to wear it but maybe a little 'full' in the bum bit for trousers......

I think I need to think less. I'm building myself up into a full scale panic.

The Hobbs link didn't work, its the brown elastic Emily boots.

Can't do hats. I look like someone's MIL trying to hard. Mutton and lamb spring to mind.

I have a Monsoon dress that would do very well. But I always, always, always wear it. And I wore it recently with the boots and coat to something with the very same people. Not sure I could wear it again...... Its great though, its a purple underdress, shoe string straps, with a pale grey patterned chiffon top dress with a long, cuffed sleeve, see through to the purple.

I would like to wear it.
But I feel I really should go out and get something similar but different........

I saw you from behind, in that pic. You have slim body. I have big arse. Your dress would look like an overstretch tissue on me But it sounds gorgeous!

Hell, I'm just not sure. I don't think its quite right for this but I think its a great dress and the colour is me - I suit red [own trumpet blowing]

I'm going to hope that I wake up with the right attitude and shop clever. You know that way it sometimes works and it sometimes doesn't? Knife-edge I think its called.
