Talk to me about trousers please...

I reckon I am reasonably trendy for my age- early 50s- not dead on trend by any means- but can keep up to date in a subdued way.

But I am stuck for spring trousers. In cold weather I am wearing tailored fine wool bootlegs ( Boden- sorry) with tank tops, cropped cardis and various White Company tops.
(note not White Stuff.)

But what about when it is warmer? I am thinking work, - I combine working from home- scruffy jeans etc- and occasional meetings with clients etc where I can get away with smart casual.

In summer I wear tailored linen trousers, but what about now?

I cannot bear going to Next for some man made stuff that everyone wears. Jigsaw have some cotton trousers- but not for £98 thanks.

Any ideas?

I know what you mean purple
I have spent winter in slim leg jeans/boots,leggings or those Boden velvet slouchy widelegs(think you may have a pair too??)
Wore grey velvet widelegs yesterday.
Also have a pair of Boden [blush} more tailored denim trousers that always look smart, plus 2 pairs of stripey cotton trousers in same style.Have had them 2 yrs I think, but there are sililar this year.

How about cords? I quite like them because they're jeans but smarter!
I've also had some good in-between trousers from Gap - although you have to have a good feel because some of them have cheapy fabrics. I have a nice black pair which hang really well and are wool or wool-mix.

I bought a couple of pair of very fine wool trousers from Reiss which are very light weight and wear these into early summer - maybe these would work for you (they are expensive but lined, don't crease!). They are slightly wide leg, but Reiss make slim leg version and wide leg versions too. I have one pair in gray, and another in beige brown. Banana republic are also good for work trousers in different fabrics - I have a black fine wool pair from them (also lined). I also have a Boden pair which are a wool/linen mix - not sure if they did a similar pair this year. Jigsaw have a "tropical wool" mix which I think is the same, a linen wool mix. Gap are worth a look, same cut as Banana republic. They have fairly lightweight work trousers.

Thanks!

I can't get away with cords for the type of work I do.

Georgina- I have the Boden velvet jeans and slim leg denim for casual and Boden bootleg wool for work- but only 1 pair. I have a pair of Kew smart trousers- tiny black and white check in viscose- but that's the lot. Ihave some Kew linen draw string for summer and some smarter Kew linen.

I like the sound of Reiss and have seen things in Gap but never bought at the time...Banana R is an option too. Thanks all.
