what does anyone think of deep reds/plummy for everyday?

I use a deep wine/purple one on my toes- Rimmel Desire ( I think) and have just bought Opi Bastille My Heart- which is a deep wine colour.

I usually use a very pale pink/nude Mavala varnish on my hands.

Are strong colours a bit naff for fingernails- or okay?

I think they are fine if your nails are well cut and shaped. It is more difficult to hide chips with dark colours, so bring a bottle in your handbag to do those repairs.

def. short nails, eh?

Not necessarily short - but all the same size and shape. I have long nails btw

I do prefer short nails if you're wearing dark colours, but then I'm not very glam most of the time! Agree they need to be uniform shape and length though, especially if they're not short.

If you use a base coat, two thin coats of the colour, then top with a clear coat, it should last longer without chipping. And it's really easy to pop another clear top coat on every couple of days so you're unlikely to chip the colour.

I think long nails painted deep red is a tad vampira. better on shorter nails

I was thinking short- long red just isn't me.
