My dd 14 has to wear them for school and goes through them like there is a fecking money tree in the back garden quite quickly. Can anyone recommend long lasting ones that are relatively cheap. TIA

Mark's 40 denier £8 for 3 pairs, last ages

Does she have to wear lycra opaques or can she wear woolly ones? I find the woolly ones last better in general, providing you keep your toenails short and your feet nice and soft.

I dont think she would wear woolly ones.....I will try M and S - I have had them in the past and they were good, just a bit of a trek to nearest M & S....

My DD in year 8 hates to wear lower denier tights and likes really black, lycra tights. Found some 140 denier tights in Tesco and also in Primark which are great and not ££££££££.

DuffyMoon · 27/02/2010 21:38

Wow 140 denier - be thicker than leggings, i shall look out for those. Are primark ones hard wearing ?

They are both really hard wearing and extremely good value. They even keep their shape when washed - I noticed today they were hanging like leggings on the radiator. £2 or £3 a pair I think.

Thumbs up for the Primark ones - I buy shedloads of them when in the UK. It seems hard to find inexpensive opaque tights which don't have cheap and nasty shine, in Oz.

DuffyMoon · 28/02/2010 15:33

Is it all primark opaques or is there
a specific one i should be looking for

I've had some Falke ones which have lasted a couple of years -- ok, they are 15 quid, but amortize that over a couple of years of frequent wear and they're value. They are cotton, so breath and don't snag or do that 'scarring' thing when they rub on boot zips or heels.

Duffymoon The Primark tights I referred to above were 140 denier. Think there is only one range of that thickness. Tesco 140 denier good also.
