Rexy · 25/02/2010 22:52

I have asked everyone to come dressed smart.

I am Asian and look good in red and bright pinks.I am 5 foot 4ins tall with DD norks.Got small waist and good legs.

Party is in a function room and we will be drinking and dancing.

Would a maxi dress look ott ? I want to look wow, grown up and fun loving !
Mainly looking at Coast and budget around £100.

Any ideas please ???

Have a browse in French Connection and tell the sales staff that you want a dress, they will puul everything out of the new stock IF you enlist them. I've been wearing their dresses for 7 years and always get fantastic feedback from friends. They do fantastic Coral colours which look fab on my darker skin.

mrsruffallo · 25/02/2010 23:07

Something like this?

Rexy · 25/02/2010 23:13

Nice - but over budget.

Will try FC too

I managed to come across a load of sale dresses on FCUK site that seemed a bit 'hidden' (to me anyway) via having a dress in my 'shopping bag' for aaaages, here:

www.frenchconnection.com/category/womens+Dresses/Dresses.htm

also have discovered that if you put 6 zero's in the student discount section they knock a bit off

joliejolie · 26/02/2010 11:02

That Vivienne Westwood dress would probably look fantastic on you with the figure you have described.

My_Wardrobe have it in stock and also have a 30% off code around, so you could get it for £157.50. Over budget, but it is a fantastic dress and a great investment.

tethersend · 26/02/2010 11:47

Over budget but nice... too summery? too short? any good?

Rexy · 26/02/2010 15:30

Looking good - any other ideas?

Is maxi ok or too ott though ?

If you want maxi, go maxi. I don't think it will look OTT at all.

What sort of maxidress did you have in mind?
Sleeveless? Empire line? Low cut?

Don't be afraid to criticise the ones I linked to; if you tell me what you don't like, it gives me a better idea of what you do IYSWIM

tethersend · 26/02/2010 16:07

This for instance is nice, but would sleeves and a high neck be ok?

mrsruffallo · 26/02/2010 16:30

I agree joliejolie, it's the dress that sprang tomind when she described herself.
Go for it Rexy, it is a beautiful dress, and even better with a discount

Rindercella · 26/02/2010 16:37

It's your party, you can wear what you want to

Am loving the Coast Tigre maxidress that Tethersend linked to - would look fab on you I think.

Rexy · 26/02/2010 20:27

Maxi dress I thought that would be nice are

same one as mentioned above

The one I really liked has vanished from the Debenhams website -it was red maxi sleeveless with embellishment around the bust and back.

Would prefer halter neck or sleeveless styles.

My friend bought a gorgeous dress from L.K. Bennett for her 40th and it looked fantastic. I think they can be over the £100 mark though, but maybe worth a look.

duckyfuzz · 26/02/2010 20:40

there are some lovely red dresses at phase eight scroll down a bit

duckyfuzz · 26/02/2010 20:42

not red but would look fab

Rexy · 26/02/2010 20:46

Phase eight ok but not too maxi, the dress above is nice but really want red

OP posts:
duckyfuzz · 26/02/2010 20:57

red plus maxi seems to be a hard combination to find, which I find a bit odd! Asos have some that are pinky rather than red

Ewe · 26/02/2010 21:07

Could you pull off gold? Friend tried this on the other day and it looked fab.

Clure · 26/02/2010 21:43

this comes in red
pink grecian
straight coral
gorgeous if you have good legs

tethersend · 26/02/2010 21:48

Any good?

tethersend · 26/02/2010 21:52

Or here?

Rexy · 26/02/2010 21:53

Thanx Clure no shop near me and party is next Sat. I am in Cardiff.

Tethersend dress is lovely but bit too floaty DH would say it's a maternity dress!!

tethersend · 26/02/2010 21:58

Best so far IMO

MmmCoffee · 26/02/2010 22:08

This is gorgeous.

Rexy · 26/02/2010 22:19

Tether do like the satin one.

MmmCoffee that one is a bit shapeless IMO
