Very plain t-shirt style dress - what to wear with it?

I bought one last week in h&m, scoop necked, purple, it is flattering - but I am not sure what to wear with it to jazz it up a bit.

Any suggestions? Colours, shoes, boots, tights, leggings, scarf? I might take it back tomorrow, unless I can find some inspiration.

What is the sleeve length?

I always find these kind of dresses a total god-send as they are so plain you can make a million different outfits according to what you layer them with.

Colours which go with purple are:

magenta
teal
chocolate
grey (a rich slate grey or even grey marl)
cream
red
mustard
chartreuse

I would layer with long sleeve tee beneath and a cardi over the top. Push up the sleeves slightly on your cardi so that you can see the tee beneath around your wrists. Leggings or opaques would work and definitely boots - but they need to be quite casual. Either biker boots or brown knee highs - either slouchy or fitted. Would probably look quite cool with Uggs, if you are an Uggs kind of woman

Purple works with either silver or gold in terms of jewellery. A chunky cuff or a several smaller bangles always looks great with a tee-shirt dress.

Scarves - I almost always wear a scarf. Have 2 drawers full of them I find they really can make a so-so outfit just that bit more dressier.

Thank you, I will try it on again tonight - I have the dark brown Fly mols (mn bargain) but would I wear with brown (patterned/ribbed) tights?

The dress has long sleeves, maybe it would be more versatile with shorter sleeves? I like the idea of pushing up my sleeves - would never have thought of that.

I am short and although I bought a pair of black wedge short boots the same day as I bought the dress I don't think they "work" - make my legs look stumpy almost, but I have good legs, even if they are a few inches too short for my liking.

Tulpe I like all the colour ideas, would never have thought of most of them, cheers - though I might not be confident enough to wear mustard.

I like the idea of biker boots and will have a look for a short jacket.

I will go and have a wee trying on session.....
