Manicures - worth the money?

I have never had a manicure but now DP and I are going to get married, I would like my hands to look half decent with my new ring on! Is it worth paying someone to do it, or can you make a good job of it yourself? My nails are fairly short and tough, but always look a bit "tatty". Don't want false nails or (heaven forbid) square nails, just nice-looking fingers and nails. What do you lot reckon?

I'd get them done for the big day, everyone wants to see the ring and indeed photograph it.

Yes get it done, even if its the only time in your entire life.

They do things to your nails and cuticles you couldn't achieve at home

Agree that it's worth getting them done, v relaxing and they'll look good. But imo, definitely worth getting a local recommendation.

I've had a few manicures done for various occasions and a couple of times I have definitely thought I could have done better myself. And since I know how good it can be, that annoyed me.

Enjoy your big day!
