5'3 - Long denim skirt. Yes or No?

Prior to having children I always loved long skirts and had several in denim or cord.

Since having children though I have lost all confidence in how to dress and I have been looking at long skirts and am not sure now.

Before I used to have a sort of 'style' if you could call it that - probably a bit hippyish. Long skirt, pretty top, cardigan and always flat shoes. Not sure if that qualifys as hippyish but was definitely different to most of my friends at the time.

I am 16 on bottom - 18 on top.

Thanks

No - long denim skirts are too mumsy - try knee length.

Sorry - probably not what you want to hear.

Perhaps long in a different softer/drapier fabric.

no
very frumpy for anyone

Feelingoptimistic · 25/02/2010 14:27

I agree with tracey.
Obviously there are some people who can pull off any look, and you may be one of the lucky ones !!! But in general long skirts (unless it's a really floaty beach type, if you know what I mean) look incredibly frumpy.

Try something knee length or just above the knee - you might be surprised at how fab you look !!!

Just what I feared everyone would say.

I think I pulled it off a few years ago without looking frumpy (rose tinte glasses emoticon needed)

Definitely not above the knee - tried one today and my knees are huge and horrible.

Will see about knee length although at my height I find it hard to get that length and then just below the knee is frumpy too

Might have to give skirts a miss til I lose more weight.

Thanks

all denim skirts are horrible.

Custardo - denim minis are ok but do agree that denim skirts can look quite horrid.

Bet you could pull off a denim mini - how much weight have you lost now?

Feelingoptimistic · 25/02/2010 16:28

Suiledonne - what you need to do is when you buy a skirt, get it taken up to exactly the right length. It makes a huge difference. An inch or two can make all the difference between frumpy and chic.

NOt at all imo
