Stuck in a Boden/White Stuff rut- please style me!

Everything I have is either a flowery tea dress or some sort of embellished skirt. I just don't know what suits me any more. Am also stuck in tunic and leggings hell which i don't think does much for me!

I am 5'8", size 8/10, bit of a stomach, pear shaped, short legs. I suit autumnal colours, I would say. Short dark hair, dark eyes.

I really need a new look- I have become boring before my time although I don't want to try and look too young (am 41.)

Any ideas? I just don't know where to start. Everything I own is flowery and screams 'frump'.

You don't actually have to avoid those shops to get something different, though there are plenty of other places too (you might like Jigsaw/Kew, French Connection, Comptoir, etc.) If you have a bit more money, look at quirky designers like Odd Molly and Ghulam Sakina for different stuff - Ghulam Sakina have their own website and do good sales.

You could try jeans or suit-type trousers with a little fitted top and jacket or cardigan. I'm similar to you in shape and I like Boden wideleg jeans.
Or miniskirt, tights and boots (mini not too small obv, just above knee, and try things like wool, denim, tweed instead of flowery) with fitted top/jumper.

I've never done it myself but people say having one of those personal shopper sessions is great as they suggest things you would never have tried and you get new ideas.

I quite like the nautical look to break up floral overkill. Just make sure it isn't too hello sailor.
I bought a blue and white striped knitted dress. They are everywhere. A decent coat is a must.

Well you're lovely and slim and tall which should make things fairly easy .

I agree with Marine - go and look in shops like Whistles/Jigsaw/Comptoir where I find the staff really helpful and they love 'making over' someone.

Or a personal shopping session in Selfridges if budget permits.

Start flicking through magazines and work out what look you like/whose style you admire and use that for inspiration.

Come over to the shop more wisely thread where there are links galore to lovely stuff.

Thanks Marine- I would love a personal shopping session, maybe in Jigsaw... [dreams]
Wide leg Boden jeans sound good- Iwas advised to wear wide leg due to chunky thighs. Good tip.

Posh funnily enough I just bought a saior -style stripey t-shirt. Just ened thinsg to go with it now...

Cheers tracey- I love your shop more wisely thread. Must join you when I get paid. [

That's quite a bit to think about, thaks. I like the idea of thnking about whose style I like....will get thinking...drawing a blank at the mo. Would love personal shopping one day...

JoJo I might be wrong but I'm sure there are some that are free, you don't pay for the session and you don't have to buy anything. Try asking somewhere like John Lewis or House of Fraser and see if they do that.
