Purple dresss - what accessories???

I have finally found a lovely dress for a wedding I'm going to, it's purple. I thought silver or gold accessories but is that awful? If ok, what's better with purple, silver or gold?

And does anyone know where I can get a nice pair of shoes to go with? I really, really can't do normal heels but am short....wedges?

Looking forward to some advice from you experts out there, am so clueless! Cheers!

Well either I would say, I have deep purple wall paper and it has gold things on it which works.
But then silver would lighten the outfit, maybe make it a bit more weddingy.

Have you got a link to the dress?

Earlybird · 23/02/2010 20:12

Imo, silver is more elegant.

Clure · 23/02/2010 22:16

shoes
wedges
many silver shoes here

Saw my best mate the other week and she was wearing dark purple with...mustard accessories (bangle/beads). And it looked ace.
This might also give you some ideas?

I have a lovely purple dress and the first time I wore it I wore silver accessories.

The second time I wore red. Both work well.

monkeysavingexpertdotcom · 23/02/2010 22:26

Oh yes - I wear purple and red together a fair bit too!

PCPlumIsMyHomeboy · 23/02/2010 22:48

What is the dress like? What kind of fabric?

And when is teh wedding? Soon, or not until summer?

All important factors!

monkeysavingexpertdotcom · 23/02/2010 22:54

Purple and lime can also look good.

Elemental · 24/02/2010 09:08

Also purple and turquoise is good. V versatile colour, I think.

tulpe · 24/02/2010 09:14

Purple works with either gold or silver. Which metal best complements your skin tone?

Also love purple with magenta, teal or chocolate brown.

Sunshinemummy · 24/02/2010 10:21

I've got a purple outfit and I wear it with nude coloured shoes - looks really good.

CirrhosisByTheSea · 24/02/2010 10:28

ooh thanks guys, hadn't seen these replies!

OK I will try to link to the dress

It's great to get ideas for other colours as well, I don't think I'd have had the confidence to stick purple on with mustard or turquoise for instance

I shall give this some more thought.....am drawn to Teal I must say, and I think silver if I go for metallic might be best with my skin tone....hmm

Fab dress.

This necklace from Top Shop would look great with your dress. You want something that sits quite close to your neck and collarbone because the dress neckline is quite dramatic and low by itself.

A chunk cuff would also look good.

CirrhosisByTheSea · 24/02/2010 13:18

thanks tulpe!

and I am loving that necklace, that is so my style you are a genius I can safely say I am having that necklace!!!!!

cheers everyone

You won't regret it Cirrhosis Top Shop used to do the same necklace with solid leaves (rather than the skeleton style of this one) and I bought it in silver and gold. I have worn both of them so many times. It is such a statement piece and people will always give you lots of compliments
