Best place for a nice hat.

We are going to the races in York for our wedding anniversary in August. Where is the best place to get a nice hat?

Also where would you look for nice posh frocks?

Thanks.

Need a bit more info... what sort of look are you after?

Favourite colours?

Definite no-nos?

Kayzr · 20/02/2010 11:49

I have no idea what look I am after.

I love bright colours and a huge no-no is anything cream/white/beige as it is disgusting.

Oh and I am 5ft 8. Hoping to be about a size 12 then as I am currently losing weight.

Ok... John Lewis has a nice selection of dresses to start off with, and a few hats and fascinators.

What's your budget? Are you happy to have arms/legs on show?

Kayzr · 20/02/2010 12:16

I don't want to spend more than £150 on the outfit. Quite happy with legs on show. Providing I can get rid of my flabby arms I will be happy with arms on show too.

For dresses, have a look at phase eight.

I will be back later with some ideas

Kayzr · 21/02/2010 07:44

The Phase Eight dresses are gorgeous. I'm not sure I'll be able to pick one.

I got a really lovely big wedding hat online from louise oliver. The site looks a bit amateur but the pictures were helpful, and it turned up fast and customer service was good. And much cheaper than equivalents in the shops, I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the prices on some in our local hat shop!
