I bought a pair of Dr Martins mules which were cheap because they were white. I successfully dyed them black, I used the leather dye and then black traditional boot polish. Six months on and having been worn in the snow the toes now look a little navy blue so I will repolish them again. It was easy to do and I would say go for it-it is easy to dye darker like you want too but impossible to go lighter. The dye I used was made by "Punch" and it is under a fiver in a blue and red box. Good luck!

I'd go for it. Years ago I had to dye some shoes and it worked well(bright red to black)- my friend did recently (beige to black) and worked fine. Can't remember the product though, sorry.
