what can DH wear to June wedding

DH has nothing to wera to a wedding in Luxemburg in June. It could be very warm so guess a linen suit affair is the way forward. The prob is DH hates suits, hates dressing up & is likely to not wear it much again so he doesn't want to spend loads. Am going to have to work hard on him to get him to buy anything and to not wear av dodgy jacket from 1983!!!! Help please!!

How does your dh dress like to dress now? What sorts of things does he wear?

PoppityPing · 18/02/2010 17:55

Here you go the perfect blend of casual and smart

PoppityPing · 18/02/2010 17:56

sorry I have been waiting for somewhere to post that

chocolateshoes · 18/02/2010 18:35

Oh yes Poppity ping - that's him toa tee!!!! Hmmmmmmm!!
Early Bird - he's a jeans, shirt, T, French Connectiony Fat Face type really. Quite outdoorsy. Really doesn't do smart (but I do think he's look gorgeous in a suit).

Thinking about it most of his clothes have been bought by me - Full Circle, Gas jeans. He is slim, 6 foot.

I would have thought Luxembourg is similar temperature wise to here in June?

In whch case a half decent suit with white shirt and pink tie should suffice. He can always take the jacket and tie off later on in the evening if he feels all trussed up.

I don;t think he can really wear anyhting other than a suit to a wedding tbh

traceybath · 18/02/2010 18:41

Agree with musty.

Would steer clear of linen suits - a bit too 'man from del monte'.

Next and M&S have reasonably priced suits.

chocolateshoes · 18/02/2010 18:49

agree that it has to be a suit or jacket & trousers. Prefer suit myself. Must have a look on M&S website. Thanks

Similar build to my Dh, and I got him suit trousers, matching waistcoat, nice shirt and tie for a wedding last summer, looked lovely.

PoppityPing · 18/02/2010 20:35

I don't think it has to be a suit for a wedding at all unless you are part of the wedding party itself.

I think a blazer, shirt and smartish trousers look good enough, smart shoes are v important though.

My DH doesn't mind a suit these days, but he used to wear this kind of thing.

White Stuff blazer

trousers

shirt

PoppityPing · 18/02/2010 20:40

No tie, and probably this kind of thing on his feet (ignore colour!)

As he usually wore jeans and a t-shirt, he looked smart for him, and still felt comfortable instead of stuffy.

Complete turnaround nowadays mind you

PoppityPing · 18/02/2010 20:43

Monsoon also do a good selection of nearly smart for men, can't seem to find it online though.

taffetacat · 18/02/2010 20:47

If its Sat 12th June he might like to wear an England strip

aarghhelp · 18/02/2010 21:09

Well, my hubby doesn't like dressing up. However, we have come up with a formula of jean type trousers (but in non-denim blue colours) and jacket. Boden have a cotton suit in a light brown colour that would do it here amd here

aarghhelp · 18/02/2010 21:28

This is very inexpensive and so are these - I'm not sure whether some combination of these in different colours might work for you!
