COMPLETE virgin....which might seem strange seeing as this is mumsnet.

I have been sent a 15% voucher with my amazon order I was sent the other day when ill, from a fabulous MNer TooTiredToThink (she is fab).

anyhoo.....that and the MN connection made me curious, so off I went to browse.

Now, I have been promised a coat from my MIL as a belated birthday pressie, (was in hopsital at that point so couldn;t go shopping, and still can't either as yet).

anyhoo, am rambling.

I have seen a coat, and I love the look of it, but am not entirely sure it is 1) me and 2) if it is me, what size to get, whether it would be worth ordering etc.

tis this one, in red

i do not like those buttons, but easily changed. what about the double-breasted-ness?

i have had three boden coats and tehy are very well made. the arms are quite long.

dexter73 · 18/02/2010 11:32

I like the coat but I don't like the buttons at all.

fishie · 18/02/2010 11:34

what size are you usually? also i don't think the 15% off will work as it is already reduced. free delivery and returns of course though.

The only thing I would say (you want honesty!) is that, whenever there is a thread on here about instantly recognisable Boden clothes, it is the coats that are frequently cited as 'culprits' - ie making you feel a bit daft when three other mothers turn up at the school gate in one.

I should add that I do buy some Boden stuff, but never coats/patterned jackets/loud floral dresses. (okay okay not my style anyway but the 'screams Boden' thing would also put me off).

psychomum5 · 18/02/2010 11:41

oh, won;t it.... had a budget of around £50. hmmm...

as for size, clothes wise am an 8/10, in coats I normally buy a 12, which they do have, so was hoping that their sizing wasn;t too far different to normal shops and so won;t drown me IYGWIM.

I am also unsure on the buttons, but they are easily changed.

bellisima.......have not thought of that.

I am a complete virgin, as stated, so wouldn;t recognise boden if it bit me in the arse, but maybe others might...

that said, not seen anyone in that coat up at the school gates, so won;t be clashing there

and if I DO get it, and then change the buttons, it won;t be boden as such, with will be a psycho/boden hybrid!!!!

ok since you hav esomeone else to pay for it and free delivery / returns there is no risk whatsoever. send for it, try it, send it back if not nice.

do you really want a winter coat in march though?

psychomum5 · 18/02/2010 11:51

I do, I really really do......have wanted a red coat for ages, and they have all gone now from the shops (was waiting for sales as my birthday is in january).

am going for it......as you say, someone else is paying (well, will pay for almost all, DH I am sure will pay the rest ....yeah, he'll pay, I am worth it as they say.

and lets be honest, winter is not over yet, and more snow is forcast.....I will no doubt get use from it!

of course you have. now you can look forward to parcel arriving. but be prepared for ruthlessness if it doesn't suit you.

psychomum5 · 18/02/2010 12:53

will take a pic, then post it here, and will promise not to cry if everyone hates it.

well, might weep a teensy bit if there is cruelty....
