Had my "colours" done, going shopping tomorrow, anyone seen any nice stuff in "deep" and "cool" colours?

Over in the UK for a week.

Mum minding kids.

DH in bed sick.

Off to town tomorrow on a shop for a couple of work outfits (teacher) and maybe a few tops etc. for weekends.

Anyone want to spend some virtual money with me?

I think Cambridge have pretty much all shops, am looking forward to trying stuff on rather than shopping online.

lots of teal, navy, emerald, khaki, black everywhere just now

janeite · 16/02/2010 21:06

I keep linking to this but all the flipping stores I've been in have only had size 8 or size 16 in and it is bargainous now, as well.

Not seen this one irl but looks nice online

I had mine done last week and I'm deep/warm. I thought it would help me with choosing colours, but because you have to be specific with the shade (who knew) I can see me giving up finding the right ones and ending up in black.

How did your shopping trip go? was it easier or harder to find clothes?

Dorothyredboots · 17/02/2010 09:32

I have just had mine done too. I'm a blue Spring with House of Colour and I'm wondering where I'm supposed to buy suits/jackets for work or indeed a coat in my best neutral colours - bright navy, Dove grey, tan . Any suggestions gratefully received.

jamaisjedors · 18/02/2010 15:14

Well lots of a lovely deep blue in Oasis so I got :

this shift dress

this blouse for work

and a green wrap top to wear over a white top at the weekend.

I went into Debenhams first and spent a couple of hours wandering round with my swatches feeling utterly confused.

I didn't find it made shopping much easier to start off with but it did mean I discounted a lot of stuff that I might normally have looked at.

Am not feeling at all confident mixing and matching colours though, hence dress and tops that will go with jeans/black.

Also got this skirt in French connection which looks a bit crap on screen but is really nice and fits me really well.

BTW janeite thank you for your suggestions, I did try those dresses on and the colours were great, but the necks were funny on me (not enough boobs).

What the hell are 'deep' and 'cool' colours? Are you sure your 'colourist' wasn't a left-over 70s hippie?

OrmRenewed · 18/02/2010 15:19

Love the dress btw!

jamaisjedors · 18/02/2010 17:05

As opposed to "warm" and "muted" Orm!

Actually it was easier to see because I got it done with my mum who is "deep" but warm>

So she can wear colours which have some depth (not nudes or pastels) and warm undertones (lots of orange-based colours - although there are warm blues and cold blues - think dulux paint charts with "families of clour"

NB all you autumns warms, M&Co have a pretty good lime/brown range atm, which is v hard to find this season amidst the greys and blues, but annoyingly tis not online

jamaisjedors · 20/02/2010 13:30

So would deep and cool be Spring or Summer?

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 20/02/2010 18:32

deep and cool is winter iirc - all springs are warm

good article here

TeaOneSugar · 20/02/2010 18:57

Sorry to hijack, but I'd love to get my colours done, I'm in Derbyshire, can anyone recommend someone?

There's a "House of Colour" consultant in Nottingham or a "Colour me beautiful" one in Sheffield, but I've no idea really.

jamaisjedors · 23/02/2010 11:08

Thanks MrsB - am a bit worried that the pics of all the slebs who are "deep winter" on that site look nothing like me!!!

I was blond as a child, now darkish-mousy bronwn (naturally) with growing-out blonde highlights.

Am thinking maybe brunette would work on me again then?

Sorry Teaonesugar, I don't know of anyone in that area, maybe search the archives?
