For twelve years DH has been buying me Izzy Miyake perfume for Valentine's Day, and last year I bought myself a bottle of Flower by Kenzo. I love both of these but feel the urge to try something new. However, work/time/fmaily constraints means I will have to rush to our local (small town) Boots on Saturday morning to pick a new scent. I reckon I will have about ten minutes before the children get VERY bored, so has anyone got any favourites to recommend so I can target my sampling?
I like things that are quite light, but not really flowery (I like the violety smell of the Kenzo though). I want it to say "sophisticated career woman in her thirties" (can scent say such a thing??)
Thanks in advance

Dh bought me Lola by Marc Jacobs for xmas..it's fruity, violety and drys down vanilllay . I am perfume obsessed, my all times favs are Alien by Theirry Mugler and Angel Innocent (much lighter and easier to wear than angel). Nina by Nina Ricca is also a pretty fruity scent with a grown up sweetness..like rainbow sherbet!! Oh and orginal Vera Wang is delish, fresh floral-very feminine. Check out basenotes.net for reviews and Osmoz.com for all new perfumes releases. (sorry can't figure out links) Good luck and let us know what you choose.

SJP - Lovely. Perhaps too light and floral if you want sophisticated career woman.
It's very versatile though (I wear for going out and everyday school run etc)and the only perfume that doesn't make my eczema react!

My friend wears it and she's defo sophisticated career woman.

LaurieFairyCake · 11/02/2010 20:39

SJP Covet is nicely grown-up floral

I want to recommend you the Liz Earle one but you have to buy it online.

M&S do a good Jo Malone one - think its lime blossoms and lavender? its very nice and light

twisha · 11/02/2010 20:44

brimfull · 11/02/2010 20:46

Daisy by marc jacobs is gorgeous imo

BaDaBing · 11/02/2010 20:47

Jo Malone - Lime, Mandarin and Basil. Beautiful!

justallovertheplace · 11/02/2010 21:36

I love Kenzo, and the other one I wear is Stella Nude, and (this one surprised me, but worth a spritz next time you're in) Zara's peony one. Both are along the same lines I think

duckyfuzz · 11/02/2010 21:41

I like daisy too, quite sweet though
Chloes is lovely, my current fave

Barbsieboo · 11/02/2010 21:48

I like Daisy tooo - very wearable. I also like chloe and stella mccartney.

animula · 12/02/2010 01:02

Do you have a SpaceNK, rather than a Boots? If so, try "Iris Nobile".

Otherwise I'd point you towards "Daisy" too.

And have a read of this which you might enjoy, even though most of it is talking about perfumes you won't be able to buy on your speedy shopping trip.

May I also gently push you towards the Estee Lauder counter and suggest you try their "Private Collection" range? Not Iris - but, who knows?

mangoandlime · 12/02/2010 07:30

I can HIGHLY recommend the new Liz Earle perfume, Botanics no1

I have had comments on it when I've been wearing it, and that has never happened to me before!

stillfrazzled · 12/02/2010 08:23

I just got the Benefit Leelee perfume and love it - gorgeous packaging, lovely light scent (I adore Issy Miyake too).

MadameOvary · 12/02/2010 09:24

Clarins Eau Dynamisante is gorgeous, though more herbal than floral.
You cant get it in Boots but Prescriptives Calyx is lovely too (if Prescriptives are still around).

Thanks again everyone. I ended up going for Ghost Anticipation, and added Nina Ricci Nina, amour by Kenzo and some of the SJP frangrances to my birthday list.
