For those who are slightly heavy in the leg/thigh area... if there are any styles for this spring that don't involve shorty ditsy dress/tops and leggings...please tell me what they are!

I have never been slim legged -although I am only a size 12. I am now going demented trying to find outfits that don't involve jeggings/ treggings or any other derivation. Skinny jeans look terrible on me. I 'd love to look a bit more fashionable but the choices out there seem very limited...or are they......

Please fashionistas give me your best alternatives before I break out the gin and drown my sorrows

waits with interest. and sympathy. my concern is less about width...more about length. i'm 5 ft nothing and - proportionately - short legged. I've also seen too many women my age (39) on whom the look you describe just looks like they're trying too hard. which never looks good on a 39 year old...

alarkaspree · 08/02/2010 15:45

Skinny jeans look terrible on me too, but can I suggest you try these from Uniqlo? They are skinny yet bootcut so balance out the thighs a bit whilst still looking vaguely current.

That's my only suggestion, will watch with interest!

Finbar · 08/02/2010 15:48

interesting idea - boot cut skinnies ... will seek out

just back from googling treggings...I'd have to try them but they seem vaguely possible to me...like leggings but a bit more substantial?

MillyR · 08/02/2010 15:52

I thought a few people were on here the other day saying that leggings were being replaced by tracksuit bottoms, although what kind of a solution that is I do not know.

alarkaspree · 08/02/2010 16:14

Tracksuit bottoms? Are smiley face t-shirts going to make a comeback too?

MarthaFarquhar · 08/02/2010 16:17

balance the skinny jeans with biker boots -works for my thunder thighs.

Also try straight cut jeans? more modern looking than bootcut, more forgiving than skinnies.

Finbar · 08/02/2010 16:22

what about for a more dressy occasion? where even the best trackies just won't do!
tracksuits - really?!

linen trousers with skinny tops

it will never be wrong in my gimmer opinion

YoureGorgeous · 10/02/2010 19:26

i envy htose who can wear WIDE trousers and not look like a ship in full sail.
partic if slim on top.
AO that would be my tip.

Bobbiewickham · 10/02/2010 19:28

I look like Mr Strong in wide trews - completely square.

What's AO?

traceybath · 10/02/2010 19:31

I agree with probono and youregorgeous.

Lovely wide cut trousers, slim fitting top to show off lovely arms - very flattering.

If you're short - high wedge heels under the trousers (make sure trousers are long enough to almost cover shoe).

Hatwoman - I'm 5ft and 37 and live in skinnies - don't think i look 'try hard' though. But I'm an apple rather than a pear.

YoureGorgeous · 10/02/2010 19:36

Bobbiewickham · 10/02/2010 19:38

You're obsessed.

Bobbiewickham · 10/02/2010 19:42

Nu shuz?

I can't wait.

Sorry, off topic...

Does it have to be trousers?

Has anyone mentioned skirts/dresses?

YoureGorgeous · 10/02/2010 19:56

Bobbiewickham · 10/02/2010 19:57

A line hides a multitude of sins.

Bobbiewickham · 10/02/2010 20:08

Jesus.

I spent C & D's wedding with a three tier cake on my head.

Please tell me I don't have to wear a cake on my head again!!

Mind you, it would balance out my thighs...
