Lovely colourful cardy needed

FlouryBap · 06/02/2010 20:15

Hello! I have a family party in a couple of weeks and am going to pull out a lovely black and cream spotty skirt and a cream lacy top for it. I was looking for a lovely bright cardy to go with it. Every couple of years I spend a decent amount on a lovely cardy that will last me and go with several things.

Has anyone bought anything recently they are really happy with or can you point me in the direction of something.

Thanks

If you want really bright, Boden's the place (£10% discount through MN)

JackieNo · 06/02/2010 20:21

Lots of colourful knitwear

JackieNo · 06/02/2010 20:25

This is a nice colour

What shape cardigan do you want?

FlouryBap · 06/02/2010 20:36

Hello!

I am looking for something waist length and quite fitted. I have recently had a baby and am breastfeeding, so not too fitted over the big boobs and not cropped as carrying weight on the back of my hips.

I have just been looking through Boden - I like the favourite cropped cardy - but as i said cropped not a good idea. the rest don't really appeal. I would like it to be a wee bit interesting.

I like the laura ashley one - that is along the lines I was thinking of.

other suggestions also appreciated.

I would never have thought of laura ashley! is this too much?

only you can say whether is too much with spotty skirt. but it is a lovely colour.

FlouryBap · 06/02/2010 20:58

I am slightly scared by it. There is a LA in town, might go and have a look in person.

I have been looking round lots of other sites and can't find much

I saw that one - the only reason I didn't post it was that I wasn't sure what colour the dots are - if you're wearing cream and black and the spots are white, then it might not work so well, imo.

janeite · 06/02/2010 21:00

M&S do cardigans shaped like that green LA one, with pretty silky covered buttons.

fishie · 06/02/2010 21:38

my sister favours that shape cardie, she also gets from next.

FlouryBap · 07/02/2010 10:04

I had a look at the m&s site nad was uninspired. will maybe have a look instore.

hadn't thought of next (they are so hit and miss), will check them out

noddyholder · 07/02/2010 12:07

I bought a bright red cardigan lovely fine wool for 6.99 in zara sale yesterday! If you have one near you they had lots of nice ones in pretty colours

janeite · 07/02/2010 12:22

Sorry Edgar - but a lot of that OddMolly stuff is horrible imho - it reminds me of my grunge days!

Is there anything in:
French Connection
Linea
Vivienne Westwood sometimes does v cute cardigans if you are loaded.
Coast?

noddyholder · 07/02/2010 12:31

Oddmolly is well odd!

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 07/02/2010 19:10

L K Bennnett has an Aster cardi in bright pink or purple, £75.

OrmRenewed · 07/02/2010 19:12

DH gave me a fuschia cardi for my birthday from Gap. Not my colour normally but I love it strangely.

FlouryBap · 07/02/2010 21:20

Is this the gap one Orm?

Not sure the LD bennett one looks worth 75 quid, but will check it out in town on Tues.

Am checking out the other sites suggested by janite now

thanks!

How about Uniqlo?

I'm up north so have to shop online and have been very happy with the clothes I have ordered and delivery was quick.

OrmRenewed · 08/02/2010 08:32

No. Mine is littler than that. Buttons on the cuff. Those are all lovely though.

EdgarAllenSnow · 08/02/2010 11:43

i like odd. chaque un a son gout and all that.

was it this one Orm?

and OP what do you mean by cardi - something really warm and wooly, or more just a top that happens to button up?

FlouryBap · 08/02/2010 13:23

A top that happens to button up that, preferably one that looks nice iwth skirt, jeans and over dress

MrsMotMot · 08/02/2010 13:25

If you want warmth and longevity and can stretch to it, get cashmere. You can get some lovely colours (try Brora?) and IMO it just can't be beaten... but then I live in the frozen north in a draughty house and need warmth!

RipMacWinkle · 08/02/2010 13:29

Not very me but I love the colours on this Next one - don't think it meets your spec though OP
