How do I avoid the half head highlight look?

I have had highlights in the past but have recently grown them out. Typically I now want them back! I wear my hair up quite alot and was always quite annoyed by the fact that my hair was dark underneath. What do I need to ask for to avoid this.
I think I used to alternate between half head and a T Bar depending on cash flow.
Any tips, am going to a good salon so should just be able to ask them but want to be knowledgeable as don't want to be talked into pricey full head!

you have to have full head highlights if you want the bottom bit done too, cos half head is obviously just the top half of your head...

guess that makes sense! I guess what I'd like is just a few scattered through underneath just to break it up. Is there a name for that or should I just ask?!

hehe I used to be a hairdresser, there's not a name for that that I know of, I'm sure they'd do it for you but they might try and charge you for a full head, it might not be possible/they might not be willing to put a different amount of money in the till for a service that's not listed on the 'menu' if you know what I mean.

Worth asking though

half head should still cover underneath and round ears etc so when hair up still has highlights you would normally just miss out middle section

so you can ask for full head the alternate with half head

half head has always been all round and then middle section missing more colour so if hair was up you still look like it is all done in my hairdressers and when i done hairdressing this was alwasy the way i alternate between the both but have a natural added as well so roots dont look as obvious

Hmm tis a posh salon with massagy chairs and everything so its worth an ask.

I alternate between a full head
then just get my parting doen next

Have foils, fine ones with 3 diff colours

I have half-head highlights and ask for a few foils to be put in round the nape and back as well.

Great shouldn't get laughed out of the place then as it seems like a reasonable request!
