Can you buy a "selection box" of different (decent) perfumes?

My birthday is coming up and I fancy a new perfume but was wondering if you can get a box of several small bottles of different perfumes.

The only ones I can recall seeing are your typical old lady Lentheric selection like Tweed etc but surely there must be a more modern equivalent out there?

Or can you buy individual miniature bottles?

sorry, meant to say other than Jo Malone as I know they do the "starter sets"

I've seen that kind of thing in duty free at the airport.

8oreighty · 04/02/2010 16:49

Penhaligans used to do a nice one

I wish ALL cosmetics came in minature size. Who needs an eye shadow the size of a tax disc?

sweetheart · 04/02/2010 16:50

boots had them as gifts over christmas - might be worth checking the website...

emsyj · 04/02/2010 17:05

I have definitely seen Estee lauder and Dior versions of this. A lot of places will give you a little sample squirter too - certainly Chanel normally have them.

What perfumes do you like? Maybe could suggest a few alternatives to try...?

brimfull · 04/02/2010 17:08

daisy perfume by marc jacobs is gorgeous

seeker · 04/02/2010 17:08

Estee Lauder do one. Dd got a fab selection of Jo Malone colognes for Christmas too, with suggestions about how to "layer" them.

seeker · 04/02/2010 17:09

Ooops, sorry. Should have read the thread. Ignore me.

LastTrainToGeneva · 04/02/2010 18:10

I got one as a Christmas gift from Boots. It had Anais Anais, Ange ou Demon, Ghost and one more (hename escapes me). I was very pleased with it.

Not sure if they still do it now the Christmas sales are done. It's worth a look on their website

If you want something more unusual and don't care about a pretty box, look at www.perfumedcourt.com - they decant perfumes into little vials and have some really interesting niche and vintagey things. I ordered a random grab bag and got a range from CB I Hate Perfume to Chanel. My favourite was one by Reminiscence called 'Do Re.'

Thanks everyone -I'll take a proper look at the links and ideas later once the DC are in bed.

ggirl - funnily enough Marc Jacobs Daisy is the one I wanted but then I started wondering about having a few different ones instead.

Carmen - is this the site you mean? (your link took me to something else).

I like the concept so will have a browse but there are thousands listed on there so it may take some time! I'll have to try and work out the prices too as they're all in $ -I presume they don't have a UK site?

Pop into Debenhams and ask for some testers, you can get some free 5ml squirty bottles if you ask nicely, you can get even more if your darling child goes shopping with his granny and tells the nice lady it's your birthday, he wants to get you some perfume but he doesn't get alot of pocket money (yes, he really did this, yes it was my birthday, no I didn't ask him, yes I was embarassed).

NorbertDentressangle · 04/02/2010 20:36

lol

You trained him well!

He's a lovely child. SO thoughtful, yet resourceful at the same time. He's always on the scrounge for something, he normally smiles and gets free sweets off the staff in a few well chosen cafe's in town.

THANK YOU CarmenSanDiego!!! There are some fantastic-looking sample sets on there - their international delivery is pretty reasonable, too.

CarmenSanDiego · 05/02/2010 01:55

Oops, yeah, that's the one Norbert. Sorry about the crap link! Yes, it's an American site but I think the prices are quite reasonable
