Is this dressy enough?

For intimate wedding, Sat afternoon in Kensingston and then to dinner/drinks.

Dress here. Never shopped at phase eight before - always considered it an older lady shop but I love a red dress. What are your thoughts?

How best to accessorize?

Ooh, that's a killer dress, will look fab! I would wear some silvery dangly earrings with it, black/lacy tights and black 40s style shoes.

BendyBob · 04/02/2010 16:00

I love it!

BunnyLebowski · 04/02/2010 16:04

That dress is gorgeous! Sexy and classy and not trying too hard.

Am I right in thinking you're a brunette? If so you will look knockout!

Ewe · 04/02/2010 16:10

Great! Glad you like it, have 100% faith in MN opinion

Yes, long dark hair and I might even brave some red lipstick to complete the look!

Does it need a necklace do you think?

great dress

I would wear black opaques and killer black patent shoes

no necklace needed imo

Batteryhuman · 04/02/2010 16:16

I want!

diedandgonetodevon · 04/02/2010 16:19

Gorgeous dress. Personally I don't think it needs a necklace unless it's something quite simple.

KristinaM · 04/02/2010 16:34

lovely dress

40s style red suede shoes here, although perhaps not dressy enough for the occasion

bishboschone · 04/02/2010 21:23

here

not sure what size you are but this is lovely and very flattering

CirrhosisByTheSea · 04/02/2010 21:55

Lovely dress - good choice! I think you deffo don't need a necklace - some statement earrings needed though imo. Necklace would be too much.

I'd go against the black thing for shoes - I'd go for neutral tights and neutral shoes - you know kind of 'buff' colour? I think this looks really good with red.

KristinaM · 05/02/2010 14:28

i tried on that dress today in phase eight. the neckline is extremely low cut, it nearly showed the bottom of my bra, not the top! It was a plunge bra so not high. and i am 5'5''so average height

the staff in the shop said that they all thought it was lovely when it came in, but it didn't fit any of them

Ewe · 05/02/2010 19:54

How strange Kristina, it fits me perfectly, although it is definitely a plunging neckline it doesn't feel like I have my boobs out iyswim. I am 5"6 but do have quite big boobs.

(btw, I LOVE your kitchen, it looks so peaceful)

I got some big old statement earrings from Topshop today and a bracelet, couldn't find any shoes that grabbed me so I am going to wear a black pair of high shoes that I already have. Keeping it simple!

Its gorg.

hellsbelles · 05/02/2010 20:07

oh - I can't remember who it was...but someone mentioned that they got that dress and it looked lovely....

Enjoy - I think it's very va va vroom and gorgeous

DolceeBanana · 05/02/2010 20:24

Looks an extremely flattering shape...have fun in it!

Ewe · 05/02/2010 20:28

Thanks all - I can't wait!

Oooh Monty I nearly bought a short big pearl necklace today but decided against it at the last minute.. I really should consult the S&B threads before I make buying decisions

Have pearl earrings and bracelet though.

Ewe - I think that would look great. I love those necklaces. (I have earrings and bracelet too, but not the necklace, but I want one lol). And deffo the red lippie.

You're gonna look knockout.

Hope you have a great time.

KristinaM · 05/02/2010 20:47

statement earring sound perfect, ewe

and shoes that you know fit you well are a much better choice than new ones that will be painful by the end of the night

glad the dress fits you well - clearly my boobs are in the wrong place/too big

however did get another dress but can't find it on the website to show you. i thought their dresses in store were a much younger style than in previous years - i tried on several lovely ones.

glad you like the kitchen - it IS peaceful when all the horrible delightful children are asleep

mathanxiety · 05/02/2010 20:54

I think you do need the chunky pearl necklace as suggested. It's a fabulous dress.

moonshine · 05/02/2010 21:56

I tried the same dress on today as well but in blue! It's lovely but agree that it showed far too much boobage for me - very porno. KM and I must have similarly-positioned boobs

Ewe · 07/02/2010 01:22

I had a wonderful time and received many compliments about the dress

Ewe · 07/02/2010 01:23

Oh and I went for big pearls they worked really well!
