What would you wear on a night out to a meal in a nice restaurant?

No-one answered my other thread here so I am re-phrasing the question.

Thanks

I think 2 important points:

  • detail at neck/sleeves (as you will be sitting so that's what everyone will see); and
  • nothing too tight or that you can't eat in.

So, how about a dress w interesting neck detail and some bangles/bracelets? Or a tunic/shift top w some slim leg pants and heels (go as high as you like as you will be sitting)?

BTW make sure your nails are painted - that will make you feel fab!

Not sure what your budget is but www.asos.com or theoutnet.com would have some good options that you can look at online.

Thanks bunnym, part of the problem is that I am spending my budget on the night away so will have to put something together from my limited wardrobe.

Am size 16 on bottom and 18 on top with large boobs so can't pull off the skinny leg look at all.

If I had some ideas of whats appropriate for the occasion I could see what I have that might do.

Lowish cut top and nice jewellry, but make sure you have a good bra on!

bunnymother · 04/02/2010 15:28

Baby DD on lap so will be brief...

Sorry, now I see what you are asking! In terms of appropriate, I think anything that's a little dressier than smart casual is fine. Example - NOT black tie! The poshest restaurant I have been to is Claridges and there women were wearing nice dresses w heels and jewellery and men wearing suits. By nice dresses, I think the dress code is "cocktail" IYKWIM. HOpe this helps!!

bunnymother · 04/02/2010 15:29

of course can wear top w trousers or skirt instead of dress!

hobbgoblin · 04/02/2010 15:31

Palazzo style trousers and nice floaty top - go all black and use jewellery to dramatic effect or black bottoms and colour in the top

Wear funky heels.

hobbgoblin · 04/02/2010 15:42

The heels suggestion is an alternative...don't wear heels with palazzo/loose trousers!

Thanks everyone.

I had a good look through my wardrobe.

Unfortunately the top I thought would do nicely with black trousers no longer fits comfortably. I suppose it is too late to tone my stomach before Monday

I have one or two other options but nothing perfect.

I'm starting a new thread about a dress I have. Maybe I will see some of you there.

Thanks again.
