I am nervous when I go to the hairdressers, please help!

I have long curly(ish) hair and I would like a haircut that I can wear up and down.
I think layers would suit.

I would like it dyed a slightly red (giner red not mahogony) as I used to years ago.

Any ideas as to a cut?
