Why is one supposed to wear one's pearls frequently?

Because the oil from your skin helps show their lustre.
When I bought some in Hatton Garden from a pearl specialist he polished them with fish oil first, and it made a huge difference.
Oh, and NEVER spray perfume onto them, ruins them.
Didn't realise I was such an expert

I was always told that they like to be worn regularly or they start to go grey. Have no idea how true this is though...

They did smell slightly for a few hours,
Didn't do an IQ test on them though!

Something about the humidity too, can't let them dry out, my mum used to say keep them in the bathroom too??! Wearing helps this.

Apparently they will dry out eventually being a product made with the body fluid of the mollusc. Also keep them separately from other jewellery so they don't get scratched. Look at Honora Pearls website. They sell on qvc here but are a US company.
