Where can I get some absolutely fabulous pink and flowered/birded wallpaper for a very small corridor that leads to my DD's room? It needs to be redecorated (as we have had a leak) and I want to make it into a sort of girly alcove? I only need a tiny amount, so price is immaterial.

this is much nicer in RL

RonaldMcDonald · 01/02/2010 18:52

this is gorgeous

Ooh Lynette, spot on! That's really nice and the design is small enough for the small space.

Others are lovely but not quite what I had in mind for this particular mini-project.

Thanks.

More suggestions welcome!

We could cope with something even pinker than Lynette's. Even, possibly, with some glitter on it

If the space isn't too big, could you decorate it yourself? I gave up on trying to find my perfect wallpaper and decided to customise our walls exactly as I wanted them. So I've used a very dark matt raspberry pink emulsion as a base in one of our darker alcoves and then painted on leaves etc in gold. Elsewhere I've used copies (done onto almost translucent cream paper) of old line drawings of birds, cages and so on, cut out and glued on to an eau-de-nil background. It looks a good deal less craftsy than it sounds...you do need good paint and a good lining paper to start with.

Next project is bigger - dd's new room, all in apple green with dark branches and cream flowers - I've got ambitious!

The decorator is being paid for by the insurance! I only have to find money for the paper. And lots of work needs doing to the walls (due to the leak) so honestly I don't want to do any work at all!

I admire your creativity and enthusiasm, though, aquavit! Well done!

Ah, I suspect if I had a decorator then I might have tried harder to find some wallpaper that I liked - I do loathe papering. Hope you find something fabulous. Try Cole & Son? I like this

Oh thanks for that link - I love the hummingbirds!

Of course, it will be DD's choice in the end. And she is 5...

Hmm, not sure what happened to the last three there, I had linked to some others on a completely different site!
I'll try to find them again

I think I want quite a deep (but not shocking) pink background, some birds and some flowers and/or foliage in several other colours and quite a traditional style design - the architecture here is quite elegant, and DD's furniture and furnishings are quite romantic - a mix of pale pink painted wooden furniture and antiques.

My parents have had the Cole and Son hummingbirds as recommended by aquavit in their last two houses, it's absolutely gorgeous paper.

Bonsoir · 02/02/2010 18:41

You are all lovely and so very helpful - I haven't chosen wallpaper for ages, so this is just great. I even bought a book all about wallpaper this afternoon!

I adore the Cole & Son hummingbirds and am beginning to think that I might be able to use two different wallpapers - one in DD's vestibule-thing, and one on the wall that it leads into in her room, which a short wall, opposite her window, and has a large pale pink wardrobe on it as well as her door - so the wallpaper won't be overpowering. Maybe I could do the hummingbirds on that wall, and something coordinating, deeper coloured and possibly a little geometric in the vestibule?

Bonsoir, did you need any hooks?
