Tell me about your dubarry boots

If you have a pair of these please tell me whether you think they are really worth the £££ price tag.

I have been covetting a pair all winter. They claim to be as waterproof/weatherproof as wellies, but made of leather and not at all welly-like in appearance.

Dubarry wearers, tell me all - please

I have a pair and they are fab. Very well used - taken through lots of muddy fields and wore all through the snow. Very comfy and felt happier wearing these to pop to Tesco in all that bad weather than my shabby hunters which my dog chewed when she was a puppy!

i bought some dubarry sailing boots similar to those (ie leather but with a slightly different sole) and have crossed the atlantic twice in them and they are fab. really warm, totally water proof and tough as... well, old boots! I used them loads during the snow too, best pair of boots i own.

I live in the South so fairly country around here all be it in a town and loads of people wear these. I saw someone working in CREW wearing them the other day. Also my local florist wears them. They are lovely in real life although little chunky and the people I have seen wear them are slim . I am short with muscly legs although slim and I don't think they would suit me sadly!

I had those. They come up big, so best not to buy online.

They were lovely though. Then my dog ate them.

I have a poor girl's version made by Toggi bit like this and they are warm and waterproof

it would depress me to spend £300 on boots that get covered in mud and horse poo, but if they were for going out and about in would be ok

MitchyInge · 30/01/2010 17:04

(the thing I do not like about Dubarry is that EVERYONE has them, and I really mean almost everyone)

Bobbiewickham · 30/01/2010 17:08

Bruce Springsteen looked rather delish in the ones he wore at Glastonbury...

Thanks everyone. I wish I could find some reduced somewhere, but I get the feeling they won't ever be in a sale!

I like the look of the toggi version, but couldn't see a price - will go and have another look.

I did wonder how flattering they are on the leg - my calves are reasonably OK - relative to the rest of me anyway - but maybe I need to try some on rather than look online.
