Have long been in the gloss camp juicy tubes, maybelline, jane Iredale, clinique.Thinking about revisiting my old era lipstick roots. Is this wise or indeed ageing on a pst 40 gob.All opinions on this shallow dilemma aprreciated, along with recommendations. My old colour by the way was clinique blushing nude sort of beig/rose/brown.

I used to wear blushing nude (or creamy nude I think it was called....sounds slightly pervy anyway!). Then I became a big fan of Lip Glass by Mac. These days, I find I wear a mixture of Lip Glass (if I have made my eyes very dramatic in the evening, for example) and Chanel lipstick. Colour-wise, my favourite red is Enigma by Chanel (quite pinky-red), followed closely by a Mac red (can't remember exact name but tis quite a blue-red).

I don't think it's ageing. In fact, I find my lips look a lot better (and definitely softer, more moisturised) with the Chanel lipstick.

someone on here recommended chic by no 7 and it's really nice color, subtle

i still love my brown lippy too

donnie · 26/01/2010 18:54

my staple fave is Clinique's pink chocolate: quite matt and creamy.....love it!

Have you seen lipstick queen? They do a 10% pigment "saint" range and a 90% pigment "sinner" equivalent. You could try a saint one. Or get a Bobbi Brown consultant to sort you out. I think gloss tubes are a bit erm, dated now, and don't you find your hair sticks in it?

I followed the same lipstick-gloss-back to lipstick route as the OP, and find that BeneFit color plump lip pencil is the happy medium I've been searching for.

I used to wear the Clinique pinky-brown selection and I love this BeneFit YooHoo shade. It's nothing like as pale pink as it looks in this photo, it's a much nicer pink/brown on. And it works like a big fat soft crayon, so dead easy to apply. I like the fact I can use it all blunt and soft and smudgy for school / Sainsbury's, but can sharpen the pencil and so get a much more defined outline for a night time look.

I haven't worn lipstick since my goth Sisters of Mercy days in Year 11 when blood red was the colour of choice. Bourjois - if I smell Bourjois make up scent now it takes me right back.

Since then have not worn it - nude lipgloss all the way. Emphasise eyes more and can't wear strong lip colour as will look like hag.

Bought a schiaparelli pink lipstick once and laughed socks off at self as looked like a Pat Butcher/Krystal Carrington hybrid.

Sticking to juicy tubes.
