Need your opinion on this dress - for work wear at ad agency. Husband thinks it's awful, I think it's nice! Would you, or not?

NoahAndTheWhale · 26/01/2010 11:15

Your DH is right. Sorry.

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 26/01/2010 11:15

you could wear a ruff and work the alter boy look

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 26/01/2010 11:16

altar boy not alter boy

TheBossofMe · 26/01/2010 12:23

it really does.
your hubby is right.
wsorry.

Cranreuch · 26/01/2010 12:34

I think it is a bit like something Hattie Jaques would have worn. More matronly.

Cranreuch · 26/01/2010 12:41

I can see why it would appeal, it looks smart and it would be easy and comfortable to wear, because it has long sleeves, it isn't tight fitting or restrictive - which office clothes always seem to be.

If you were very petite/slender (norkless), then you might get away with it in a sort of quirky Audrey Tatou kind of way?

hatwoman · 26/01/2010 12:46

blimey. it does rather look like you might start singing about mountains. it would probably be ok in another colour combination.

choosyfloosy · 26/01/2010 12:48

I wouldn't, I'm afraid.

buy two of these instead and some things to go under them?

Romanarama · 26/01/2010 12:49

Agree with cranreuch. If you're flatchested and wear it with really high heels it could look quite cool. If you have big boobs or are a bit fat it will be a sack. But if your dh hates it, might as well buy something else really.

aarghhelp · 26/01/2010 12:52

Looks like a cut down version of the gear they wore at my convent school (?Augustinians? hated it!) but mind you claudia winkleman does wear stuff vaguely reminiscent of that (?why) and gets away with it.
