Flat shoes - a survey

Good evening

I am doing a quick survey to assist me in my quest for something to wear with straight leg jeans & trousers that isn't Converse or ballet pumps.

There is only one question.

What flat shoes (not boots) do you wear with jeans and trousers (not skinnies/leggings etc tucked in)?

links would be great.

Thank you very much

I too would like to know the answer to this - as it is strictly ballet pumps or converse for me (and I don't really like my converse either). Are there any real alternatives?!

Montifer · 24/01/2010 22:51

I've just bought these having lived in my red pair until the soles are almost worn through.

Not glamorous I'll admit but I'm definitely a subscriber to the comfort 1st rule where shoes are concerned

monkeysmama · 24/01/2010 22:51

There must be!

I've just bought these.

I haven't tried them with skinnies yet but they are so flat I can't see they'll be less efficiently jeans-compatible that ballet pumps.

They're better-looking in the flesh/fake leather, as it were.

Basically, I was loitering nostalgically in L. K. Bennett and wishing that war had not been declared on the kitten heel. I then wandered into DP and ... succumbed, because they looked like a secret kitten-heel, that I could wear without being mocked.

I'm wondering if it's time to stage a kitten-heel come-back, on the tail-coats of the vintage thing?

There are some trainer type shoes in Next at the moment which don't look sporty, I am wearing those mostly.

However I have no idea about fashion etc so may be barking completely up the wrong tree

akhems · 25/01/2010 06:13

these are very comfy and look pretty good too, I have them in black tho

misshardbroom · 25/01/2010 08:08

I have these from KangaRoo. Not very glamorous (especially as wider in reality than they look in this picture) but supremely comfortable and can be smartened up a bit too, being black leather and all.

Thanks for replies so far. What about everyone else?

MM, this is the bane of my life too. I hate ugly flat shoes with a passion. That's why this year I am wearing fly mol boots. Stylish flat shoes in winter I don't think exist!

I like these and buy a variation every year
Currently have very natty snakeskin alike ones

or are they too close to converse for you?

PoppityPing · 25/01/2010 10:48

I haven't got any so I am watching with interest, I kind of like these

But I'm not a pottery teacher, so don't know if I can pull it off

blossoming · 25/01/2010 11:00

Ooh, like those Ronald although they wouldn't work for me. I look like a clown in canvas shoes.

florenceuk · 25/01/2010 11:01

I wear Campers - ballet pump style ones in summer (look at Peu) or trainer-style ones (Ivar??). But I have small feet and not much choice. Under work trousers I wear a flat lace-up.

What about a Chelsea boot - there are some very swish versions around that would fit neatly under a slim leg trouser. Or a shiny loafer - weren't these trendy this year?

they're leather but if trainers are a no I dunno

monkeysmama · 25/01/2010 11:31

Poppity I'm sure I saw a similar black pair in the Clarks sale.

Ronald I like those but have 3 pairs of converse I never wear as I have long thin feet and they feel like flippers.

I want something smarter but not too smart. I don't want boots (have plenty) but want a shoe....
