hair in bad condition after highlights

I'm really disappointed as my hair is lank and flat following highlights last week. Usually it's way nicer after the treatment, not worse!
I have them done about every four months at the same salon, where I have been going for years. however my old hairdresser has left and this time someone different was doing it. Usually my hair is in lovely condition after highlights - thicker and much nicer than before. This time it seems to have gone the other way. What should i do to improve it? (apart from find another salon..)

If it is very dry, I can recommend Kerastase Mask Intense. It is a lovely treatment which leaves my hair feeling thicker and shiny. The ends of my hair got totally knackered by some highlights last year and the Kerastase stuff worked a treat.

For a cheaper alternative, I tried L'Oreal Elvive with Royal Jelly this weekend. It is specifically for very dry hair. It worked so well that I didn't even need to use any product to stop the flyaways.
