Where to buy wedding shoes in London?

DH's colleague has asked him to ask me where to look for elegant, yet comfortable shoes for her wedding. It's been rather a long time since I got married, and in fact I bought them from the designer who made my dress, so I'm not much help.

From memory, isn't there a company called something like Rainbow or something that does wedding shoes?

Thanks if you can help!

I had Rainbow shoes. The largest selection of wedding shoes is available from a little shop called Elegant Steps, but I'm afraid it's in the north west... It's very good tho, and they have a shop online.

How much does she want to spend? Tell her to take a look at Rachel Simpson shoes www.rachelsimpsonshoes.co.uk for lovely shoes that aren't too dull and typically 'wedding' (about £120 a pair I think) and there is a stockist list on there.

Also if she's got a bigger budget, Emmy do wonderful shoes www.emmyshoes.co.uk and they are in Islington but it's appointment only. They're lovely and not pushy with the selling - I didn't buy there and they were fine about it, had a lovely time trying on.

Emmy shoes can be made with extra padding for no extra charge and their heel heights are fully bespoke so you can have whatever you want, in any material/colour etc. I believe the Rachel Simpson shoes are very comfortable, but didn't try any on myself as I didn't discover them til it was too late.

There's a place called Luella's Boudoir that is supposed to be great for wedding accessories, but I don't know where abouts it is - not been there. Think they have a website and the shop is defo in London somewhere...

Thanks so much emsyj - that's all brilliantly helpful. I don't think budget is particularly an issue (from what DH has said), but I will pass all of this on and put the ball back in her court!

Thank you.

jimmy choo..? harvey nicks..?

I order mine from there about in London about 5 yrs ago as the store hadn't opened locally (manchester & leeds).

Emma Hope, she is just off Sloane Square, if budget isn't much of an issue!

There's somewhere near Covent Garden that dyes plain white satin shoes (range of classic styles) to match any colour of fabric, so you end up with a perfect exact match for whatever you're wearing - do you think she's looking for something like that?

They also do the dyeing for dance/theatre costume shoes, hence Covent Garden. I'll try & find a link.

Thanks guys - I am really not sure exactly what she's after as I'm sort of playing Chinese whispers through DH! I suppose she's after ideas of places to go to get shoes that will match her dress I suppose.

Thanks so much for the ideas - had completely forgotten about Emma Hope, and I will pass on the covent garden link - their office is on the Strand, so that would be very convenient.

I had a pair of Emmy's and they were amazing, one of my most favourite things of all time.

If I could even begin to justify it I'd order myself some non-wedding coloured ones like a shot.

PanicMode · 26/01/2010 16:05

Thanks 30andlurking -will pass that on!

Got mine at Ivory Shoes on Bond Street. Very plain and simple. They were white satin but then they dyed them to the exact same colour as the dress and will also dye a different colour afterwards if you want.

Not expensive even though Bond Street and were loads of styles.

Website is ivoryshoes.com
(Some rather interesting boots on there- would look great with a wedding dress

Emmy's shoes are gorgeous - comfortable and lovely - but not cheap?

Luella's boudoir is in Wimbledon isn't it?
