The Great Foundation Challenge - update for LTEC!

A brief background, TMAM was slightly sceptical of the value of wearing a good foundation everyday (I mean everyday, honestly). Does it make that much difference to your life? I wondered. Plenty of people are spending plenty of money and doing it everyday. So I decided to root out some old Clinique stuff and wear it everyday for a week to see if it was worthwhile. Obviously it being a rigorous and strict clinical trial I put it on at the same time everyday and met the same people each day and never forgot to do it.

The results were as follows:

It made bugger all difference to my appearance and how I looked to everyone else . Also it was a bit slimy, however that might have had something to do with the fact it was 27 degrees outside.

However and this is the important bit. It got me thinking a bit about what my wrinkles looked like skin looked like. One nice MNer suggested trying mineral foundation aka face powder. An alternative was to try a more trendy expensive brand of foundation.

Very kindly the lovely LG&T send me the world's tiniest sample of the alleged miracle inducing Chanel vitafuckinglumiere.

Safe to say Chanel didn't cut it in the tropics and that night I went out feeling slightly orangey and with limited facial movements.

The mineral foundation has proved to be somewhat of a success, though only with me as still no one has passed comment on what fine skin I now have.

Frankly I have no idea how people find time to put the stuff on everyday and now I hear talk of a primer too, think of all the extra time in bed you could be having....

Any of my guinea pigs care to report in with their experiences?

I have been wearing Laura Mercier mineral foundation this week as my LM tinted moisturiser has run out. I likes it.

Has anyone commented that you look different? Why do you prefer it?

I don't think I prefer it really but it's fine. No-one has commented.

thanks master. You inspired me to lift my game wrt appearance, so I've started wearing a smidge of makeup for the first time in my life!! (am 12 years old)

bought some Benefit moonbeam, a few dots on cheek-apples and brow bones, blended in, then a few dots of Benefit rush hour on top, also blended. Eyeliner and some white pencil thing called "eye bright" or something in corners of eyes (meant to 'open' the eyes). Tinted lip balm.

not much reaction apart from "you look well considering you;ve just had a baby" and "have you been on holiday?"

Oh, and dh's contribution - just the once - was a startled and somewhat disapproving "are you wearing makeup???"

I raised it again a few weeks later "have you noticed that I've started wearing makeup on a regular basis?" Response was "I've noticed that it takes you even longer to get ready than it used to"

Love it LTEC!

But see people have noticed you have made 'an effort'. I think if I just put on some lip gloss (still stuck in last decade, notice) it makes an enormous amount of difference, I feel perkier and look a little less haggard.

If you were back in Oz, in the heat, would you put anything on do you think?
