Effect of hard water on hair

This may seem like a strange question, but has anyone tried washing their hair with filtered water?
My hair is not great anyway, but I always find that it looks and feels better when I am away somewhere where the water is softer than in London.
I usually wash my hair in the shower, but I am thinking of trying to wash it with filtered water from one of those filter jugs.

I have not but I totally agree with how much better hair looks out of london so might give it a go!

I live in the south, very hard water area.....when we stay in hotels in london i thought the water was soft because i needed less shampoo and it made my hair very fluffy, didn't like....do hotels have water softners maybe?

I totally agree - in the SE with very hard water, but whenever I visit friends up north my hair is miraculously soft and frizz free. Same in hotels/abroad.

Agree too - hair always better outside London but wouldn't it be a massive pain in the arse with a jug? Having to fill it each time and wait for it to filter through?

I tried the Lush shampoo bar formulated for hard water area but it didn't seem to make much difference.

I reckon if someone formulated a shampoo to deal with "London hair" they'd be onto a winner.

i don't really find any difference, if anything hair is more flyaway is softer water areas.

you can buy a filter type thing that filters all your incoming water

Well, I will give this a try, and report back...
