I have a job interview friday for a job i'm desperate to get. I hate the job i'm in at the moment its really getting me down and i can't afford to give up without getting something else so this is hopefully the answer. The last time i was interviewed i was in maternity clothes. I don't really want to wear a fussy suit that i won't wear ( i do have one although its dated) I'm 30 go to the gym alot although i'm a curvy 10-12 with dd boobs a mummy tummy and am 5'1. I usually shop in French Connection, Reiss and H&M.I'm a lazy ugg boot sloppy jumper and skinny jeans wearing person in the day but love a sparkly dress at night. Has anybody seen anything i might be able to wear, interview is friday so have to shop tomorrow ( with non pram going in, 2 year old). I have no smart coat so can't really wear short sleeves although i can probably borrow one from a friend.

have you tried Next? I'm 5'0 ! and sound v similar size to you.
Next have good trousers and some lovely work / jackets (and suits if you decide to go that way)
Good luck for Friday xx

Haven't been shopping for ages, as am post-baby myself, but last job interviews (early stage pregnancy) I went for a shortish, just above knee shift/sack type dress from Zara (black) with a black or brown Zara suit jacket over. Not sure what they have in stock this season, but I liked the unfussiness of that sort of combo. I wore it with brown opaques and brown boots. Outfit chosen to hide pregnancy but was actually surprisingly successful. So try Zara if there's one locally?

From your description of the shops you normally buy your clothes I definitely agree with smallandkind, as Next offer a wide range of clothes to suit every occasion at a good price.

Anyways fingers crossed for Friday!

Let us know how it goes!
Take care

Thanks everyone, i'm sooo nervous. I've had my confidence knoced a bit in the job i'm in so need to feel really good about myself. Zara is a great tip, i wouldn't have thought of there. Now i just need to decide heels or flats.

Heels. I only wear flats and whenever I do wear heels - my entire body shifts. My posture gets better, I feel more important, carry my deportment better - crikey I sound like a finishing school girl - which I am not!

I bought a beautiful pair of very high heels today nothing else but its a start. Going to have to go shopping again tomorrow evening without the preschooler in tow.

Where did you buy get your high heels from?

Lucky you, I'm stuck at work today . If you find any good bargains let us know.

Hope you have a great day shopping

AARRRGGGHH, ended up panic buying at about 5 to 5 when i had to pick the kids up at 5. The dress i bought is actually quite nice but i look a little like a mafia widow in it and the first thing my dh said was your boobs are huge, not exactly the look i was going for.

here's the dress

Morning wolfnipplechips

I normally end up doing the exact same thing and actually the stuff I end up buying at the last minute are really nice.

Mafia wife must be a really strong yet sexy dress.

Think I might do some late night shopping tonight see if I can find anything nice as well.

Take care x

That dress looks fine for an interview - could you use coat/jacket/smart cardie to cover huge boobs? At least you are not displaying your boobs with unsuitable cleavage - that would be a bit much for an interview!

That dress looks fine for an interview - could you use coat/jacket/smart cardie to cover huge boobs? - That would make a nice addition to your dress!

By the way good luck for Friday! and don?t forget to let us know how it goes.

smallandkind · 21/01/2010 20:56

what about adding a nice coloured cardi to look less widow?

Good luck tomorrow and keep us posted

smallandkind · 22/01/2010 20:16

WNC - what happened? how did you get on?

wolfnipplechips · 29/01/2010 10:44

YAY, got the job of my dreams, i have to keep pinching myself!!! Guess they liked the mafia wife look, although there was a hairy moment when one of the women on the panel stood up and i realised that my heels made me about a foot and half bigger than her, felt like i wanted to pat her on the head rather than shake her hand. Thanks everyone.

Oh and Dh rather liked the mafia wife look too
