My friend says it is addictive, and the weight has literally fallen off her since using. Anyone else found this? I thought I was doing ok with the trampette lol. Need something good to help me exercise when I cant get out of the house because of the children. x

don't know about wii's but after I had DD i bought a skipping rope and did 5-10 mins in our kitchen. when I was able to take up my running again and able to detach DD from boob, I did 20 mins when I could but started slowly. How about a DVD, heard some good reviews about the Davina one

southeastastra · 17/01/2010 14:52

everyone i've spoken to say's the wii is crappola

JollyPirate · 17/01/2010 14:56

The Wii Fit is great as long as you take it out daily and use it .

Oh and expect it insult you regarding your weight....bloody thing - after paying all that cash for it too.

Wii fit comes into its element with girlfriends and a glass of Chablis . If you're serious you need to go running.

Do tell me more about the Sport Active...

janeite · 17/01/2010 16:15

Wii Fit is brilliant - but for arsing around being stupid with a bunch of people, rather than for weight loss (for which I am sure it is useless).

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 17/01/2010 16:18

I use the EA Sport Active for Wii and it's really good. Proper exercise rather than games.

TinaSparkles · 17/01/2010 16:34

I think it would be difficult for achieving weight loss on its own (which you probably know anyway!).

I got one cause I am fed up watching tv at night, so have it on with the intention of maybe doing 5 minutes. It is quite fun though, and I'm usually on for 45 mins. TBH though its not great at burning calories. 45 minutes of games, and maybe some of the other yoga excercises = c. 80Kcal.

It does keep track of your weight. DSIL says it's a very expensive set of scales!

BigTillyMint · 17/01/2010 16:58

Wii fit plus is great fun, though I'm not sure how effective it is for burning calories. But at least DH is doing something other than sitting on his bum. I think the BMI thing and his Wii Fit age has motivated him

BigTillyMint · 17/01/2010 17:00

What is on the Sport Active? Do you do running on the spot as I can't master that

mrsjuan · 17/01/2010 17:01

Just Dance for the Wii is much more fun and better exercise than Wii fit (IMHO)

Plus you learn to look really cool when you're dancing

janeite · 17/01/2010 17:40

What is Just Dance please?

Clure · 17/01/2010 18:19

think you can't beat proper exercise though

mrsjuan · 17/01/2010 19:26

just dance

just joking about looking cool. It is fun though

Hopefully · 17/01/2010 19:39

I think if it's an alternative to sitting on your bum in front of the tv it's great, but as an alternative to proper exercise it's probably a bit of a waste of time.

I certainly found I ached a bit, and definitely was a bit less bloated, when we were using it daily (borrowed it, so were using it most days), but I doubt it made as much difference to my fitness as walking for 2 hours every day does...

Katisha · 17/01/2010 19:40

I was wondering whether to get a wii fit for the yoga? Am seizing up in my old age but no time to go to classes...

mrsjuan · 17/01/2010 20:02

I'd get a yoga video first and see how you get on with that - cheaper & less long winded.

Katisha · 17/01/2010 20:12

Yes that's probably the best plan.

tatt · 17/01/2010 20:18

it's good for motivation and you can use the freestep function while watching TV, which makes it less boring. It isn't a substitute for other forms of exercise. However when I have strained my back using our useless cross-trainer I can still use Wii Fit.

It's also something you can do with the children, taking it in turns to play the games.

duckyfuzz · 17/01/2010 20:19

I use EA sport active too, much better than wii fit, I have seen a real difference in jsut 2 weeks of use

Katisha · 17/01/2010 20:21

Sorry to be dim - is EA sports active somethng you do on the Wii or something different altogther? Do you need a wii fit for it?

stuckinthesnow · 17/01/2010 20:38

I love my wii fit. The trainers are a bit annoying but when you're doing the yoga and muscle exercises at least you know you're doing it right as it shows where you're putting the weight. Also you can do 5 mins or 2 hours depending on how long your baby is asleep for!

duckyfuzz · 17/01/2010 20:41

ea sports active is a 'game' for the wii, you don't need a balance board for it but you can use one here

We have a Wii fit, and I did use it regularly for a while, but there isn't anything to push you on there. I don't think it would be much good for weight loss, just tinkering and pottering in the exercise shed really.

I bought a small folding exercise bike for the exact reason you state, much more use.
