This drives me insane. I'm a 38G, I seriously do not need padding! But every bra that isn't black and boring seems to be padded. WTF is that about??

not just me then!! i hate padded bras!

Never tried here as I am a 34E and need underwiring.

Other than that, have you tried the usual suspects like Bravissimo or Figleaves. I tend to wait for the sale and then buy anything I can as cheaply as possible and send back anything that doesn't fit as I object to spending £40+ on bras these days.

Have you tried Freya bras? I am a 34 F and find they are good. They are mostly underwired and non-padded and last ages. They are my faves and come in pretty colours. I get mine through figleaves but think NEXT and debenhams sometime stock them too.

If you go to a decent lingerie department (e.g. to a specialist bra shop / Debenhams / House of Fraser), they will do a proper fitting and sort you out with a decent non padded bra. You will usually have to wash these by hand though.

Since visiting Rigby and Peller years ago I have never returned to M&S. It was expensive but have since found that you can get similar stuff elsewhere.

For the size you are I think that both Fantasie and Freya are good (both made by same manufacturer - Freya ones tend to be a bit prettier). I was actually told in a shop yesterday that the best brand is Prima Donna (same manufacturer also makes Marie Jo for smaller cup sizes, tend to be padded) and that they last for ages. My first decent bras from Rigby and Peller were Prima Donna and it's true, they did last forever.

As far as cost is concerned, it's pretty easy to get Freya and Fantasie bras at discounted prices nowadays. Yesterday I bought one at Debenhams (20% off - they often have 20% off and sometimes up to 70% off) and a Fantasie bra and knickers from a bra shop (bra was £10 reduced from £35).

Elle Macpherson ones always look lovely too by the way (although maybe sometimes padded which at 34E doesn't work for me either) - I was told by the shop assistant in House Of Fraser though that you pay for the brand and that the quality isn't that good.

32E, so definitely no padding for me. I always go to Bravissimo, and I heard from a friend today that their dresses this season are really nice as well.
