There seems to have been a digression from the original intention of Penth's very worthy thread so, rather than cause anyone any offence or detract from what Penth and others were setting out to achieve, would anyone like to do a thread in a similar vein? Discussing potential purchases (advising each other for/ against in sensible fashion!!) and talking about how we're wearing existing pieces etc

Am off to Sunday lunch with friends but will check back in later.

Wearing purple Tam Tam dress, grey opaques, grey slouch suede boots, charcoal travelwrap for discreet bfing. Pretty exited about the sunshine so nearly cracked out the new OP sunnies but am saving for summer proper

have a good day all

Gorgeous clothes MM, I'm very tempted by the longline jumper. I'd never heard of Princesse Tam Tam until this thread and now there is a lot I want. Not helped by DH saying that he has to be away from Monday morning to wednesday morning, leaving me with DD 2.5 and DS 3 months - I feel my lip wibbling.

My Fly Mes boots have arrived and look lovely, need to find somewhere to wear them as haven't managed to leave the house today, hurt my knee chasing DD round the zoo in the rain yesterday so slippers all the way today.

hoxtonchick · 23/01/2010 16:34

oooh, hells, that stripey anglomania dress is gorgeous. what size/shape are you? am worried it would emphasise my big fat tummy. will let you try on & report back.

tattycoram has the toast cavalry boots & they look amazing on her .

carciofi · 23/01/2010 17:01

sciennesmum Don't feel bad about spending money on yourself. Being a sahm is hard work, I think ... and I only have one DD.

Hellsbelles, that red dress is fab.

Tracey, I just ordered the Currentt/Elliott skinny jeans. I tried them on in the Harvey Nicks sale but I wanted a darker wash so have ordered them from the US. They are fab on, not too low on the waist, you need to size down as they run big.

LastTrainToGeneva, I couldn't open the link to your skirt.

MM, nice purchases.

LTEC, cute stripey top.

I am broke now as ordered a few things for DD yesterday and the Ash trainers so will have to keep myself in check for a while.

Chat soon!

i love see by chloe hana, cute bag. is this silly??

monkeysmama · 23/01/2010 17:48

I really like it HC!

I have a See by Chloe bag and I love it. It's black and across the body and I use it all the time. I tried
to find a link but can't. I think it's last season's version of the one you like as it's a bit similar though with a snakeskin pocket I love.

GeorginaWorsley · 23/01/2010 18:21

blossoming I had those shoes 2 yrs ago and wore them to death. Will definitely re buy.
Perfect summer shoes,imo.
Although like hellsbelles I am on hunt for comfortable wedges, preferably metallic as I find they go with everything and don't look too 'heavy' ifyswim.
I will also def have a silk summer dress, maybe from Warehouse as I like their dresses and they are a good length on me.Boden dresses too long.
Have to say though Princes Tam Tam looks good

LetThemEatCake · 23/01/2010 18:44

oh damn you all!!

do you know how many pairs of boots i have bought and sold this winter in my quest for the perfect pair??

FOUR.

and now I'm thinking ... toast cavalry...??

so how do the sizes come up

traceybath · 23/01/2010 18:46

Oooh Carciofi - where did you order your current elliott jeans from - i like these ones

Popped into comptoir in town and got a lovely plum coloured shirt - £24.50 from £75 - bargaintastic.

MarshaBrady · 23/01/2010 19:14

A good productive day (despite the hellish job to find a parking spot).

Westbourne Grove has an S Miller shop! so could look at belt, not quite right but found one nearly the same. So it was fate... and £79 reduced to £37 fate too. So fabbo, good lead into the belt find by ltec.

And some lovely stuff for ds2 at Caramel Baby and a great peacoat for when ds2 is older all 70% off.

And last minute cashmere jumper thingo in a sample sale for this designer terrible website, naff styling on pics but cashmere oh so soft and half price.

Anyway was a bit much and dh got the grumps following me around so had to cut it short which was a bugger. So might go back solo.

And still haven't been to Comptoir which was the one place I wanted to go while the sale is on, sob.

carciofi · 23/01/2010 19:33

Tracey I ordered (the same jeans, I think) from Revolve. The code tulip gives an extra 15% off and they have free shipping. Even with the customs charge, they still work out cheaper. I have used Revolve several times before, they have great customer service.

traceybath · 23/01/2010 20:18

Thanks Carciofi - I've ordered them as half the price with your code as on nap!

Marsha - good day for you! Do you have 2 boys? My DS's are 5 and 2 and then DD who is 6 months. Do love shopping for them too - although look at bonpoint don't tend to spend those prices .

LetThemEatCake · 23/01/2010 20:20

hello again. My vile children (does anyone else ever have days where they just don't like being a mother? I feel terrible admitting it, even though it rarely happens - but today: UGH!!) are in bed and dh not home yet so I have yet another window in which to feed my obsession.

MM - no, I'm not familiar with it at all, must try it out! We use Fujiyama in Brixton - they have an astonishingly large delivery area. As for MiniBoden, don't know ... it's just not a look a like for kids, or at least not for my kids - although I frequently see other children looking lovely in it. It's a little too 'put together', whereas I like my kids to look a bit raggedy. Hard to explain!! Very excited about all of your purchases today, you must report back when they arrive.

hells - how was the cake, was it a Harry Eastwood recipe? i've got her book as I don't eat wheat (and am a fatophobe, so love the idea of veg to replace butter ...) the cakes are fab!! Awesome dresses too, I'm sure that another MNer - KristinaM maybe? - has that red dress - gorgeous

I ended up buying the charcoal Toast stripe top .. I liked the aubergine but it wasn't as versatile ... and this thread is about spending wisely (and wildly )

Okay, esher - black rats... I got mine about 2 years ago in Australia so they may not be exactly the same BUT ...

  1. Full coverage. Oh my word, the thought of me in transparent leggings
  2. Mine have gone the distance, no snags or disasters
  3. yep, spot on - pillowcase!! sometimes handwash, when I have time
  4. have worn them in the daytime but only at my absolute skinniest and only in Sydney .. with ballet flats and a longish shabby tee, or with denim mini. It hasn't felt right to wear them here by day, my lifestyle and circle of friends are more conservative different

am chuffed for you about your boots and really trying not to think about getting a pair for myself ...

tracey - I seem to have missed the link to your haircut, can you post it again pls? Good buy on the shirt. What about the earrings?

hello and welcome blossoming!

chocolaterabbit, I feel your pain .. my dh is away for work a lot and I have no family in this country so it's just and my dcs, who range in age from 4 months to 3y 5months.. he's been away all week, hence why I am at end of tether today and in need of some retail therapy TLC.

hanaflower - how exciting to have your sister's wedding to outfit-plan for! Make sure you let us all join in and help you

hoxton I had my eye on that monkey dress too. I really like See by Chloe marsha - good news on the belt and other purchases! [smle]

so is anyone going to talk to me about these damn cavalry boots or what? I am size 41-42. 41 is in stock so am curious about Toast sizing...

OP posts:
traceybath · 23/01/2010 20:27

Oh yes I did buy the earrings too . They're the silver starfish ones in the buy section here.

My DH works ridiculous hours too and is away a lot - LTEC you hit the nail on the head with both feeding and paying for our addictions .

Now I do think we should have a S&B meet up in london before you go back to Australia - perhaps in the summer so we have plenty of time to outfit plan .

Blossoming - I too had those M&S ballet slippers but strictly for indoor use as so munchking like I must always be in heels.

I too would like some wedge sandals for the summer but not sling back as they drive me crazy and always fall down. Also want some nude coloured patent peep toes a la loboutin but not loboutin price.

traceybath · 23/01/2010 20:32

I need to do some serious ebaying next week - have got it all sorted just need to photograph and list. Dull but necessary.

And LTEC - I definitely have days when dc's drive me mad. The delights of 3 is that odds on - one will always be being tricksy.

CHOOGIRL · 23/01/2010 20:32

Just letting you know CHOO is still here. Been really busy with work and learning to use new i-phone. Thanks for all the fantastic links. Feel like a coiled spring as I haven't bought anything in weeks. Can't wait to get started on SS10 purchases.

traceybath · 23/01/2010 20:35

God - I can't even spell - munchkin and louboutin

Choo - what are you planning on purchasing?

dexter73 · 23/01/2010 20:37

LTEC - I tried on some boots in Toast and I thought their sizing was quite generous, the 41 was plenty big enough when I usually need a 42.

LetThemEatCake · 23/01/2010 20:38

hello Choo!

yes, the ebay thing is a drag, but worth it. I've made about £100 this week. Not much, but better than a kick up the backside.

OP posts:
traceybath · 23/01/2010 20:41

£100 - Now that is inspiring. Thats a third of a HH dress.

LetThemEatCake · 23/01/2010 20:48

Ooh, must check on with you about weight too tracey~ has the final 2.5 melted away? I'm 6lb off what I consider passable, another 7 after that will have me at 'good'. Baby L 4 months (!!!!) next week so will start some solids in the next few weeks, which is when it generally accelerates.
Goal is my best friend's dp's 40th beginning of April... Want to be rocking that MJ dress and metallic Choos!

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 23/01/2010 20:49

I did not need to hear that, dexter....

OP posts:
eshermummy · 23/01/2010 20:57

Evening all

MM- if you solve the eternal dilemma of what flat comfy shoes (apart from trainers/converse etc) to wear in spring will you let me know? I am not keen on ballet flats myself (more from comfort than appearance) so am an ash hi-tops girl but always on the look out for a new option. I do have a very old pair of Bally driving shoes - but still the thorny issue of what to do about socks? LTEC claims 8 C is an acceptable temp for sans chaussetes I say more like 16-18

This thread is a goldmine of things you never knew you wanted/needed/existed and now lust over. So far this w/e I am weighing up:

princess tam tam leggings and vest in asos sale - thanks to MM

half price brown ash trainers - thanks to carciofi

new jeans and an urge to check out comptoir - thanks to traceybath

I have already bought toast cavalry boots - thanks to tulpe and she's not even on this thread!

On the hitlist for Spring I have:

  1. Possibly the black rats, depending on what I hear back from those who have already got them
  2. Boyfriend Blazer
  3. New bikini(s) for hols
4.Something nude coloured (maybe), (not sure if it will suit me)

Am in the dangerzone tonight as am trawling the clearance sections like a woman possessed

MarshaBrady · 23/01/2010 20:59

Heck well done on ebay (and weight loss) ltec, I should do that at some point... If you do get the Cavalry boots let me know how they are, they look scrummy...

TraceyB yes two boys, 4.5 and 6 weeks. I would be embarrassed to say that I am as finicky about their clothes as my own (except I am amongst S&B friends so won't be, embarrassed that is).

I love KicoKids and Maan for the older one.

And Tuss and Victoria Christmas for little one, but always in the sale from Little Fashion Gallery. As it is very expensive, but easy to buy seasons in advance.

Would love another, a girl would be wonderful, although my shopping would be manic for a little girl!
