Ditching my Baxters because I have bought - Jeggings! and they are great

Yes I know I'm a little late realising this, but I don't like to rush into new trends!

So, I read all the threads here about them, had porridge to give me slow-release energy for all the trying on I knew I'd have to do, and was at the shops early to avoid queues.

I didn't like the next or oasis ones, found a good pair in topshop but the leg was too long. Hit the jackpot in Urban Outfitters, great quality fabric, lovely dark denim, good length and half price

Wearing them now and love them, think I'll go back for another pair. And now I'll ebay those topshop baxters that look great but are so uncomfortable.

Also got some great bargains, things that will go with lots I have already, everything 50-70% off. Now off to join the buy nothing else for the rest of the year thread!

one converted!
next ones are good too!

piratecat · 16/01/2010 19:23

they are for teens. sorry.

VerityBrulee · 16/01/2010 19:26

No, piratecat they really look great with tunics and long cardigans, give a much sleeker line than jeans. Try them!

no, i don't like them! they remind me of something that's been painted on! my dd has some tho, she is 7.

VerityBrulee · 16/01/2010 19:50

Fair enough

I have some that were half price in new look and love them. They are not the fake denim look thay look more like leggings (they are for teens imo) they are more like a stretchy jean but with an elasticated waistband. They look more like tight fitting jeans but are called jeggings, mine are a sort of faded black/grey colour. As someone has said, they look better under skirts, long jumpers ect. I find i have to wear a belt with even the smallest of jeans and they go all baggy even if they are skinny jeans so jeggins are the way to go imo

Pannacotta · 16/01/2010 22:30

I also think they look like your legs have been painted.
I wore skin tight jeans as a teenager and am never going back there...

Whats wrong with ordinary straight leg jeans anyway?!

kateecass · 17/01/2010 08:21

I did same on Thursday. Tried on loads of bottom halves. Top Shop Marthas vs leggings vs jeggings. Wasn't expecting it at all but jeggings were most flattering. Least muffin top, held in my mummy tummy and disguised my chubby knees. I'd say they were the jeans type (were dorothy perkins skintight jeans). Don't need a belt with them either.

Got couple of tunic tops to wear with them too. Warehouse has fab tops at the mo. I haven't been in there for years.

MamaG · 17/01/2010 08:23

I still haven't converted to jeggings

MrsMattie · 17/01/2010 08:25

Nah, me neither. Show me a photo of one person looking good in the, and I might consider it.

MrsMattie · 17/01/2010 08:25

in them

traceybath · 17/01/2010 09:27

I like jeggings but wouldn't relinquish my baxters. I do think with baxters you need to size up though.

Jeggings just look like very skinny jeans but are very comfy.

dexter73 · 17/01/2010 17:05

Not a jeggings person myself but Uniqlo had some in today and they looked quite nice. They had blue denim, black denim and black for £14.99.

noddyholder · 17/01/2010 17:11

here is someone looking good in them

RonNumber · 17/01/2010 17:13

i lok fantabulous in mine

4andnotout · 17/01/2010 17:29

I look feel fantabulous in mine and defy anyone to knock me down from my cloud 9.

I actually feel and look my real age (27) rather than a fat old frump wh can't get skinny jeans to fit (fat mummy tummy but fairly normal shapely legs)

I got some from Tescos plus size range for a fiver on Friday, they are ideal with long tunics and long boots.

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 17/01/2010 17:57

I think the trick is to find a really flattering pair of boots to wear with them. ie not too gappy if you have skinny legs, or nice chunky boots to balance out fat legs (like mine).

And a top long enough to conceal the camel toe is obligatory of course.

I feel TOTALLY LIBERATED when wearing them with long tunic / jumper dress and biker boots.

  • cosy and warm
  • not restricting round the middle
  • fit perfectly
  • tuck into boots properly
  • no unsightly fly / buckle bump on the fattest bit of your tummy

What's not to like.

I wouldn't attempt to wear them with NON-boot style footwear unless you have perfect pins and are about 16.

dexter73 · 17/01/2010 18:01

I don't wear them because I don't wear tunics or jumper dresses. Also my dd and her friends wear them all the time so don't want to look like them.

Bobbiewickham · 17/01/2010 18:38

Gap have got some ace ones in at moment. Bit £££ but they have a zip and button so feel more jeany. Fit really well.

Converted.

nowwhatdoido · 17/01/2010 18:53

I love mine, am totally converted. I never even wore skinnies before. I was a dedicated Top Shop Marthas wearer.

34 and a size 10. With long line tops and boots only mind.

Cranreuch · 17/01/2010 20:50

I also really like my jeggings, I bought them last Autumn and really like the comfortable waist .

I have tried the leggings that look like jeans in Topshop, they have a zip/button - but they are stretchy jersey material, and I think they are not as flattering as jeggings - though they did sit quite high on the waist, so were quite good at holding in the jelly belly.

mooseloose · 17/01/2010 21:07

Got mine in Sainsburys, look divine but they do fall down underneath!
I wear then with long cardi and flat chunk black boots. I feel nice (when they aren't falling down lol) in them.

monkeysmama · 18/01/2010 09:02

I have the Oasis ones in dark blue, grey and black and wear them so much I bought another pair of the blue and grey ones. I wear lots of big jumpers and long cardigans and they're so much comfier than skinnies. I am a 10-12 but skinny jeans have always given me a big muffin top and made me feel fat. Jeggings hold it all in. I struggle not to wear them now.
