plucking tips!

What tips would you give an eyebrow plucking virgin? Don't even own a pair of tweezers, so advice on what to buy so I can't feel it would be great. Oh, and I am a wimp, so does it hurt as badly as I think it will?

Tweezerman are good tweezers and come in a range of bright colours!

Cleanse the eyebrow area first and then dry.

Hold the skin as taut as possible whilst lifting the eyebrow up towards your forehead with your first two fingers.

Pluck in the direction of the hair growth and try to make sure you grip the hair at the base to avoid breakage and pain .

It shouldn't hurt too much if you pull it out fast.

Don't pluck too much at a time. Stand back and look in the mirror from time to time.

Invest in an illuminated make up mirror so you can see each hair more clearly.

Wipe over each eyebrow with dilute antiseptic after you have finished and don't apply any creams or make up for 24 hours afterwards.

Or you could just pop to your local threading bar and get them to do it - pricey and sore, but well worth it as the result is fantastic .

Good luck!

everything that Chic said. plus

do it after bath/shower or after holding hot flannel over area for couple minutes. opens up pores so easier to pluck.

only pluck below line of eyebrow, never above.

if never done before, would heavily recommend going to salon for professional shaping first. Thereafter you can follow Chic's advice when it grows back in, but you will have good line/shape to follow.

Go to a salon if it's your first time. Warm wax does not hurt

Thank you to you all, some good tips. Though I am feeling less sure now! I (IMO!) have a good natural shape, and just have a few at the bottom that are starting to look out of place, so glad you said to only do below the line of the eyebrow Gene.

Chic, thanks especially for the tip about the tweezers, will have a look online for them.

lunar, that is sounding more tempting by the minute.
