Next have all sorts of shirts and trousers in their Boys Occasion wear section

MadameCastafiore · 12/01/2010 14:22

WHen are you getting married?

We got married in the summer and DS looked great - he wore taolored navy shorts and a white polo shirt - didn't look naff like a suit does on a small child and meant that he was comfortable which is a big consideration whan it is such a day unlike any others for small children - you want them to not feel all suited up but confortable and able to enjoy the day.

mothersmilk · 12/01/2010 14:24

march thats why i need trousers and long sleeved shirt not too fussed on a jacket like you say i dont think it would be comfy

here

notasausage · 12/01/2010 14:26

I have also seen them in Next. Maybe try John Lewis or Debenhams too if you have one near.

MadameCastafiore · 12/01/2010 14:30

ggirl - would you really dress a small child in one of those on that website?

Truely frightful!

wheredidmyfeetgo · 12/01/2010 14:34

My boys were page boys at my sisters wedding, they were 2yrs 2 mths and youngest wasn't quite a year.

I got their suits from www.childrenswear.co.uk. They both had a black suit, white shirt and a burgendy waistcoat and cravet. They looked sooo cute.

1 of the shirts was rubbish quality, but I contacted them and sent it back and they sent me a replacement.

PotPourri · 12/01/2010 14:36

Next and Gap have nice fancy wear. Or try Jasper Conran/Junior J at debenhams.

EffiePerine · 12/01/2010 14:40

A bit more expensive, but Monsoon do nice formal baby boy's stuff. I'd agree that you don't want to stuff a baby into a jacket if you can avoid it. He'll look a mess after about 5 mins!

MamaLazarou · 12/01/2010 14:44

Dress him up like a little chimney sweep! It's considered lucky to have a chimney sweep at your wedding.

PCPlumIsMyHomeboy · 12/01/2010 14:45

I think a suit on any boy under about 15 looks a bit dodge, and certainly not very comfy.

This Monsoon ensemble would look very cute, and warm too-or you could get a knitted tank top or waistcoat instead to keep him cosy.

I agree with MmeC. Smart trousers and a polo shirt or shirt is so much better on a toddler than a suit.

I would go for something like &utm_campaign= this and www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Boys-Shirts/21331/Boys-Blues-Shirt.html

MmeLindt · 12/01/2010 14:50

How to bugger two links on the same post.

shirt

trousers

Marks actually had a pair of chinos that were nicer than the ones I linked to, they were smarter. I bought them for DS, you might still get them instore.

brimfull · 12/01/2010 16:47

MadameCastafiore -God no i wouldn't dress a child under 12 in a suit
looks weird imo but OP asked

but knew about the site as I overheard someone on a shop today talking about it only this morning

MerlinsBeard · 12/01/2010 16:50

Debenhams?

Swedington · 12/01/2010 16:53

DS3 wore a suit to a wedding in the spring but it was pale blue. I could lend it to you if you would like to borrow it?

Picture is on my profile.

MerlinsBeard · 12/01/2010 17:02

For my wedding the DSs were in black trousers, plain white long sleeve shirt and matching waistcpats (matched DHs)

For DS3 who was around 10 months, he ad black cord trousers, and a long sleeve polo shirt with the waistcoat. The older 2 had Asda value shirts and their school trousers

PracticalCat · 12/01/2010 17:36

I got DS a lovely velvety waistcoat at Monsoon for a wedding. They had matching velvety black trousers, but the full outfit was too expensive. I got a crisp white shirt from M&S and let him wear jeans. Looked really smart and lovely.

aarghhelp · 12/01/2010 19:19

I got DS a lovely black velvety waistcoat and trousers in the Monsoon sale (age 2-3) for about £6 each on Sat. `

Ladyface · 12/01/2010 20:45

When is the wedding? Have you tried BHS?
