first time to Mini Boden, are their sizes small or big

DD is just 4, but quite big for her age. She is a size up in H & M, and the right size in P.O.P. Not sure whether to buy 3-4 or 5-6

I would say big

littleducks · 12/01/2010 13:56

I would say big too, I just bought dd a duffle coat in the sale for next year but judging by the size of it, I may have to wait till the year after!

PandaG · 12/01/2010 14:04

quite generous I'd say. DD is nearly 8, yet an age 5/6 dress still fits. I am buying her age 7/8 now though.

AvadaKedavra · 12/01/2010 14:06

Baby stuff seems to come up snug in my experience, for example DNephew has outgrown his star snowsuit aged 12-18 m and only turned 1 in Dec and is average height/weight.
It's good to know that as they get older they are more generous as I wasn't going to buy him anything else from Boden on that example.

Poledra · 12/01/2010 14:08

Generous - my girls are tall, and I buy their correct age in MiniBoden and it fits fine (usually buy the age up in other places).

MinkyBorage · 12/01/2010 14:13

Thanks, will buy 3-4

DD is same age and is tall and slim (I wish I was ). She has just outgrown the 3-4, and she is wearing 5-6 so if you want any long-term wear, i'd go for 5-6.

Mimi1977 · 12/01/2010 14:43

I second Avada for the baby stuff. It does seem to come up snug for them.

I would look on the reviews which are linked to each piece of clothing. These will generally give you and indication if the clothes sizes are true to age or not.

miche8 · 12/01/2010 16:57

i have boys and did think the boden stuff came up big, but the last few things i've ordered pjs and tops have been very tight round the necks, had to stretch them to get them over the head, didn't think my boys had big heads either.....check out the reviews on the items you like first, i tend to order 2 sizes and then return one, otherwise its sold out when you try to exchange.

shopalot · 12/01/2010 16:59

Sorry to hikack but are any of you unable to add things to the basket on the Boden website at the moment. I keep trying and it doesn't work for me.

nicolamumof3 · 12/01/2010 20:56

baby things are teeny tiny. But i'd say larger sizes are true to size or slightly on big size but not massively so.

feedthegoat · 12/01/2010 21:06

Am I the only one who thinks they are either about right or small? My ds was 4 in october and is wearing 5-6 (only tops though, I haven't bought their trousers) and they fit perfectly.

He is thin but tall for his age. If it puts it into context though he wears 4 - 5 from Debenhams, both 3-4 and 4 - 5 from Next, Age 5 in Gap.

nigglewiggle · 12/01/2010 22:18

I agree FTG. The trousers are slightly on the long side, but there is quite a difference between 3-4 and 5-6.
