LetThemEatCake · 08/01/2010 09:34

LTEC you are far too pretty for such a shapeless dress.

Would you like it if it wasn't such a 'bargain'

MissWooWoo · 08/01/2010 09:41

toga party! noooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!

LetThemEatCake · 08/01/2010 09:46

I am henceforth the Jack Bauer of the style and beauty world. Impervious to temptation, torture and mockery alike.

LTEC, I'm proud of you for not succumbing

traceybath · 08/01/2010 20:37

God I love Jack Bauer.

LetThemEatCake · 08/01/2010 20:42

He is my true love. So forceful

PMSL Ltec

Jack Bauer is foxy.

That dress not so foxy.

tulpe · 08/01/2010 21:27

Good girl You have my admiration. I would be tempted because of the massive reduction in price and because it is a Paul Smith creation.

However, it is rather ordinary and if you are going to break your "no new clothes" bond then it needs to be for something colourful and extraordinarily gorgeous

Fleecy · 08/01/2010 23:03

I have to say, I did think it was a bit shapeless so I'm glad you didn't buy it! The Katia Lombardo shoes they put with it though - yum!

LetThemEatCake · 09/01/2010 00:02

yes, I clocked the KL shoes as well Sold out, fortunately.

Thanks for talking me out of the dress. I really don't need it and, as Choogirl pointed out, I recently sold a black dress (labels still attached ) on ebay. I am a sucker for a bargain but it's not a bargain if you don't need it.

The rational side of my brain knows that I no longer socialise for work nor pleasure as much as I used to. The wardrobe side of my brain has been a little slower to catch on.

Jack Bauer - you want to know how much I love him? My dh proposed to me (very out of the blue) as an episode of 24 was about to start. I snapped, in a very Nina Meyers way "I don't have time of this! 24's about to start!" We sat and watched the episode. At the end of it, I looked at him and said "Um. So, are we engaged then?" He politely pointed out that he didn;t know, since I hadn't actually said 'yes' yet.

time for this, I mean

Thats so funny LTEC.

We wait and buy the box sets and then just watch lots and lots of episodes in one go.

Those KL shoes are just what I want for spring - hope they get some similar ones in again.

geordieminx · 09/01/2010 09:59

Honestly? Dont really like it sweetie. Its a bit.........Meh?

Fleecy · 09/01/2010 22:07

Love the engagement story. At least he knew from the start where he came in your list of priorities!

TheChristmasHour · 09/01/2010 22:46

Good God, Cake. It is a veritable bargain at £70. You've given birth 3 times. You bloody deserve it .

LetThemEatCake · 09/01/2010 23:28

what's with the mixed messages?? What are you trying to do to me??

ARGH!!

buy or not buy??

TheChristmasHour · 10/01/2010 01:52

Subliminal messages! You are a respectable mother of three. Yet Yo Mo/ fo/ that bitch is crying your name. What to do?! She is lovely. I say relapse then repent. Hail Mary.

Romanarama · 10/01/2010 08:44

I think it's massively discounted because noone wanted it because it's not very nice.

almondfinger · 10/01/2010 09:25

You'd pull it off I reckon but its mingin from the back. Definately one that needs to be tried on, do they accept returns?

dexter73 · 10/01/2010 09:25

You won't be happy until you have bought it! Buy it, try it on, if it is gorgeous keep it and if it is a bit rubbish then send it back.

NorkilyChallenged · 10/01/2010 09:34

Good lord, people aren't good that this "catching before you fall" thing are they?

Don't buy it, your'e doing well, you've admitted you're stubborn so you can stick to it. It's a black dress. It's not going to change your life to own it or to not own.

As Romanarama said, think of it this way: it's massively reduced for a reason.

And you said yourself you don't have as many opportunities to dress up with this kind of dress as you used to so it's not goign to be worth it on a cost per use basis in the medium term.

tattycoram · 10/01/2010 10:26

Don't buy it. If it weren't Paul Smith and reduced you wouldn't look twice at it.
