I say yes, if they want it.

ninah · 01/07/2005 16:12

ono spidermama, not another one!

GhostofNatt · 01/07/2005 16:14

How long?

spidermama · 01/07/2005 16:14

Similar vein eh Nina? Surely not so explosive

Long as you like Ghost.

Yes as long as they're happy I guess. Just wondering if long was bob-lngth or bottom-length for those who have boys with long hair. My older DS gets to about bob-length and then wants a cut..

puddle · 01/07/2005 16:18

Plaits and grips?

spidermama · 01/07/2005 16:19

That's where my son draws the line puddle. Which meant some clever invisible gelling to keep it out of his face while it grew out.

yes if they want it. Dss had long curly hair and hated having it cut. One less argument to have with him. He got it cut soon enough tho when he got a bit older and everyone thought he was a girl

puddle · 01/07/2005 16:22

I like it as long as not ratty and matted. My ds is growing his.

my ds is like kidrock!I am in brighton too there are loads of little skater boys here Much prefer it to shaved head

spidermama · 01/07/2005 16:24

I LOVE boys and men with long hair. DH had long hair for a while. He's an actor and was in a Shakespeare play so they all grew hair and beards. I couldn't keep off him. Hotter than hot. Tsssssssss!
It's back to normal now. Getting cooler. Sigh!

My ds has quite long hair for a boy - I think there's only one other boy in the school with longer hair (not counting the one with a buzz cut and a scarily long thin mullet down his back )
Ds's hair looks like the boy in the Boden catalogue this boy not Pauline Fowler!
His hair is blonde and gorgeous and I'm going to let it grow longer over the summer then tidy it up again for September.

SoupDragon · 01/07/2005 16:24

Depends if they're wearing a dress or not

I don't like really long hair on a boy because it generally seems to just hang there rather than be styled. If it's neat, clean and well styled then that's a different matter.

ninah · 01/07/2005 16:25

I'm gonna move to Brighton

spidermama · 01/07/2005 16:25

Noddy I'm in Brighton too. Is long hair a Brighton ting? Coastal kids, surf dudes etc?

I think men with long hair have to tread a fine line between manky and unwashed and too-coiffed. HATE pony tails on men.

puddle · 01/07/2005 16:27

brighton def has a lot of dress-wearing boys with long hair. Where are you spider? I'm in fiveways (as are noddy and pinkmama I think)

wordgirl · 01/07/2005 16:27

My 9-year-old's is quite long at the back. He was growing it but DH insisted on taking him to the barbers for a trim with the result that DS now has what can only be described as a mullet!

spidermama · 01/07/2005 16:28

My DH leaned towards manky and unwashed puddle. I thought he looked manly and rugged. Mmmmmmm. I agree a man who looks good with a pony tail is a rare species. Especially a grey pony tail. Yuk!

spidermama · 01/07/2005 16:30
