wrist warmers - why?

can anyone tell me why you wear these?
When you have long sleeves and gloves?
or are they if you have 3/4 sleeves?
Do you wear them as well as gloves, or instead of gloves?

my friend got some and she wears them instead of gloves, means your fingers are available to do the fiddly things yet main part of had still warm. Also can still show off nice rings and nails!

Longer than gloves and don't look weird when left on indoors. They cover the backs of your hands as well as wrists.
I speak as someone who has permanently cold hands

Well I would have asked the same question.....until I bought a pair recently. They are fab and cosy.

I wear them even over long sleeve tops because my crap circulation means I always seem to have cold hands during winter. I can wear them around the house (altho I must admit, I do feel slightly Old Miser doing this ).

I also have a 3/4 length sleeve merino slouchy jumper that I love and the wrist warmers mean I can wear it and not be cold.

Yesterday, it was so cold here that I wore them with a pair of Nike dri-fit gloves beneath (I usually use these as lining gloves for beneath my ski gloves).

BUT the best aspect of wrist warmers is that my DSs don't steal them to add to their Darth Vader costume........unlike the last two pairs of black leather gloves I had

and you can type posts on MN whilst wearing them

purplepeony · 06/01/2010 15:54

Hmmmmm...I remain unconvinced ladies! I think I'd wear them if I was wearing a 3/4 sleeve top of which I have many. I love my gloves so there is no way I would wear WW instead of gloves, finger-free or not!

when I go out I wear gloves over the top, but I have exceedingly bad circulation......

wrist warmers save my poor hands from their usual winter nightmare of cracked skin and chilblains (well, the chilblains part anyway) because unlike gloves I can wear them at work and type etc. Used to wear regular fingerless gloves but the long ones (when did we start calling them wrist warmers? was it when they stopped putting fingers on them?) keep me warmer, especially as I am rather long of arm.

Cashmere ones are even better because they are both warmer and thinner so they really don't get in the way. Big raspberry to all the sceptics (not that I have the Brora ones mind you I have the rather cheaper M&S ones)

I love mine.
When I am walking the dog I can juggle the lead (clip and unclip him) and my torch and keys without taking them off.
If I have gloves on I end up dropping things.

I have toasty wrists. Cashmere toasty.

(mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)
