Gold dress - ideas for cardigans/shrugs/tops to keep me warm

andlipsticktoo · 04/01/2010 16:46

I'm going to BIL's wedding on saturday, and as funds are v low atm, I'm wearing a gold dress I bought from H and M in September. It's round scoop neck, cap sleeves, above the knee, crumpled sash like tie around middle. It's not shiney gold, but not matt either!

I have to wear black opaque tights with it as I only have black heels to wear with it.

I thought I'd buy a cardy/shrug thing to go with it, but not sure what. Does anyone have any brilliant ideas? Help!

TIA.

This Coast shrug is cute, warm and in the sale:

Camilla shrug They also have it in ivory, but I think that might be too bridal!

That's exactly what I'm looking for but with long sleeves. I suppose I could get one in black to go with tights - would that work???

What about this? It would pick up on the black shoes and then you could wear paler tights if you wanted to.

Lipsy fake fur

Thanks Flo, I have just ordered it! The dress underneath is a similar shape to mine(but in gold), so I think it will work. And it's not too Bridal either which is great!

I could do with some long gloves now for the outdoor photos.

Ooh cool Have a lovely time! It's going to be chilly but the photos will be beautiful if it's snowy where you are. Can you get thermals on under that dress?!

andlipsticktoo · 05/01/2010 15:54

Will deffo try with the thermals! It's in Henley on Thames and it looks like it may be snowy! The reception is in a heated marquee!

Thanks for your help.

I have been to parties in marquees in December and they have been cosy (even in revealing evening wear), so I wish you the same happy experience.

Henley in the snow - how gorgeous!

andlipsticktoo · 07/01/2010 13:18

Well the Lipsy fur didn't arrive as promised (I didn't think it would due to the conditions), but the wedding has been postponed for 2 weeks as the venue is completely inaccessible apparently! The bride is devastated... poor thing.

That's awful, poor woman. I hope it will all come together at the end of the month.

Do you think that the Lipsy fur will turn up? I just ordered a gorgeous fake fur stole on sale from the Coast site!

andlipsticktoo · 07/01/2010 16:20

I'm hoping so, surely 2 weeks is long enough for a delivery even in snowy Britain?

Which one did you get? Have you got a link? (nosey!)

This one:

Coast stole

To go with this:
Knot front dress

I am aiming for Rita Hayward, but may end up looking more like Rita Faircliffe

andlipsticktoo · 08/01/2010 08:57

Beautiful! I'm sure you'll look delicious.

I'm going for the Rita Hayworth look too! I hope.

Not sure if it's Hayworth or Hayward....

OP posts:
FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 08/01/2010 12:38

You're right, it's Hayworth. I must try harder.

andlipsticktoo · 09/01/2010 09:56

to be honest I only know because I googled to get a picture of her! And actually both names came up.

I blame Madonna. I swear that woman pronounces it Hayward in 'Vogue'

Any sign of your jacket yet?

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 09/01/2010 12:36

How are the new plans for the wedding coming along?

andlipsticktoo · 09/01/2010 16:33

Jacket arrived this morning! (Had to answer the door to the delivery bloke in a towel straight from the shower )

The jacket is gorgeous. Unfortunately I look more like Len Fairclough in it, let alone Rita!

The length of the body and the length of the arms is just wrong, wrong, wrong on me (being 5'3.5" doesn't help). I'm really disappointed as it is lush and great quality.

Ah well, the wedding has been postponed til 23rd Jan now so I've got a little longer to look - I may even just look for a new dress now!

Have your dress and stole arrived? Hope you have better luck than me.

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 09/01/2010 16:40

Oh no, that's such a shame.

Nothing for me yet, but I only ordered on Thursday so I must be patient. I will keep an eye out for another jacket if you like.

andlipsticktoo · 12/01/2010 09:18

Oh yes please! I've stopped looking at the moment, but I suppose I should start again if I want to order it so it arrives in time!
