my dh always wears the same thing, cheap jeans and cheap t-shirts.

Its starting to irritate me and he has also mentioned that perhaps its time for a change now he's getting "older".

I dont have a huge budget but would like to start off his new wardrobe for his birthday, just dont have a clue where to start.

I cant even style myself at the moment so this feels like a bit of a challenge, what do 30 year old men look good in?

Hey, I just met my friends new 31 year old boyfriend, we are 23 and when she told me about him i thought he would look 'old', but he looked rather stylish. He had a really cool hair style and was wearing really smart jeans with lots of details, i have seen similar ones in river island before (didn't ask him where they were from though lol) He had like an old mans style tweed jacket on too, pulled it off very well.

Could you have a scout around Urban Outfitters (whilst simultaneously checking out what the folk in there are wearing,) and then go and buy something similar from somewhere else?

My dh is 40+, so I'm afraid I can't be of particular help.

Prammymammy - I must confess your amazed awe at having met your friend's elderly 31 year old bf has made me smile ruefully.

I would take him to Rome for the weekend for his birthday and have a look at the hordes of fabulously dressed men for inspiration.

Otherwise, get him some shirts, not t-shirts, they always look infinitely better. Nice fitting jeans, that are long enough (breaking on top of the shoe), with real shoes not trainers, or at least nice trainers for adults, not teenager ones, shirt not tucked in with v-neck jumper or zip up jumper looks nice. Nice jackets too are good. No t-shirts or sweatshirts except for sport is a good fashion rule.

If the jump from t-shirt to proper shirt is too much for him, start him off with a really nice polo shirt (Fred Perry do some fabulous ones these days).

Slim fitting dark jeans are also a fairly easy smartness upgrade.

wonderful ideas ladies, thanks very much. I think polo shirts will be a good place to start definitely then progress on to shirts

hbfc I am also 23 and always tell dh how old he is He just thinks its great that in a few weeks time he can say he is 30 and sleeping with married to a 23 year old
