Wow! Got a curling wand from the in-laws for xmas and just had to spread the joyous news!! Its amazing and I recommend everyone who longs for curls/tousles/waves without too much hassle to go and buy one now.Its soooo easy to use and teamed with Paul Mitchell Gloss Drops (verily expensive but veritably worth it) leaves my hair a flowing mass of shiny, soft curls. I'm, finally!, in hair heaven....

what fabulous in-laws you have! Mine got me a knife block .

I was looking at the self same styling wand in Boots yesterday. How long is your hair, CDM, do you think the super-wand would work on collar length (layered) hair, in a Farrah Fawcett flicky way?

FranSanDisco · 04/01/2010 11:01

I'm very interested in this! I have shoulder length straight hair which tends to frizz in humid weather. I covet tousled hair with loose curls. Can the babyliss deliver where others have failed?

mankyscotslass · 04/01/2010 11:05

My SIL got me one, I've yet to get the chance to try it but am looking forward to it!

namechanger555 · 04/01/2010 11:14

Oh sounds good, how much is it? I might get one....

Rumpel · 04/01/2010 16:33

I got the Tresemme full kit thingy with my pints - it's v dissapointing. I have shoulder length very thick hair and it is just not doing it for me!

Rumpel · 04/01/2010 16:34

Eh points

MrsMorgan · 04/01/2010 16:39

I got this too and so did Dd1.

I love it, although found it a bit fiddly at first. Dd1 is very impressed with how long the curls stay in for, especially as they last overnight.

Dd2 has long hair, and I curled used the wand on it yesterday and her hair looked lovely, and is still really curly today.

Oh can anyone on here reccomend a heat spray to use though ??

lizandlulu · 04/01/2010 16:40

i have one but find it difficult to wind the hair round can anyone talk me though it in v.v simple terms?

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 04/01/2010 16:42

I got one for DD for Christmas, it is really fab. Only thing is I tried it on her friend today and found the worse case of nits I have ever ever seen which was vile.

Freyfreysmum · 04/01/2010 17:53

Yukky re nits. Re wand wow, do you think it would work on fine flyaway shoulder length (usually poker straight) hair?x

CDMforever · 04/01/2010 18:14

Misshardbroom, not sure if it can give Farrah Fawcett type locks, think more pre-Raphaelite curls. And yes the curls do stay in overnite. I just think its the best thing since sliced bread or hair straighteners. Mine cost £24.45 from Boots.
lizaandlulu, the way I use is the way my hairdresser showed me. Take a section of hair and apply smoothing cream(Paul Mitchell Gloss Drops is fab tho pricey) to the length of the section. Then place wand in front of section to create a cross, then wind hair round and round the wand till you get to the end of your hair. Try and curl the end bit under too tho this can be tricky as you may burn your fingers. I haven't looked yet but I'll bet theres something on utube demonstrating how to use it.
Went back to work today and lots of people commented on my hair! Result!

There is a girl on utube doing a demo - she had finger guards, which she said were a little strange to wear, which prevent finger singe (ouch). Are these included?

MrsMorgan · 04/01/2010 20:11

There was a heat glove included with mine, but I couldn't get to grips with it.

It does get very very hot so you do need to be so careful. I am currently sporting a burn mark at the top of my forhead

lizandlulu · 04/01/2010 20:55

ohh will have to have a look on you tube, i did keep catching my fingers which made me think i was doing it wrong

TheChristmasHour · 04/01/2010 21:41

My lovely dp got me one for Xmas and yes they are amazing. I would highly endorse it. Dp loves my hair when I've used it. In fact he gets very frisky! It was great present and I love it. Make your hair so full of body with beautiful tumbling curls.

CDMforever · 10/01/2010 16:54

had a look on utube and they've got tonnes of tutorials about how to style with a curling wand. Can be very teeeeeedious but have some good tips. Worth a look.

Top notch brilliant and great stuff!!! Hair looks pre raphaelite and lovely.
Secret is to hold wand upside down (wide side at top)
love it!!

MrsSeanBean · 07/03/2010 18:26

This sounds brilliant. Does it give better results than a 'normal' curling tong then? How / why? [intrigued]

HinnyPet · 08/03/2010 18:36

Looks more natural I think.

Since first post have had hair cut to shoulder length but curling wand still works brilliantly.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/03/2010 21:32

Would this be good for styling my sisters waist length hair for her wedding day?

Im a dab hand at doing curls with my straighteners so have been "volunteered" to do her hair on the day.

HinnyPet · 08/03/2010 22:17

Gawd yeah, but put on some styling heat protector stuff. The gloss drops mentioned earlier in the post sound nice. I did find my curls dropped after about 4 hours though!

HalfTermHero · 09/03/2010 10:09

I have one and yes it is amazing. Defo the best hair tool invented since the GHD straighteners. If you have any inclination towards curling your hair then go and get one. At under £25, you really can't go wrong.
