Facial at a salon - worthwhile??

I am the lucky recipient of birthday money from my lovely DH and I was wondering whether to go to a salon for a facial - any recommendations? Is it worth it? Can you see/feel the difference?

I am 32 my skin is a little greasy with blocked pores but not hugely noticable except to me scrutinising in the mirror

Shall i book one? What type/brand?? Help!

oooh yes. If I was booking one I would go for a Clarins one as I think their products are lovely. The salon you have in mind might not do particular brands but might offer ones for tired skin, stressed out skin, relaxing facials etc
Pedicures are also lovely IMO if you have enough money for a couple of things

I had one ages ago where whe squeezed all my blackheads -boak , was fab. but can't remember what type it was.

Recently I had an aromatherapy one that was nice but don't know if I would have it again as no real difference besides it being relaxing .

I think the fab one I had was a cathiodermie one.

deaddei · 28/12/2009 15:46

Dermalogica is fab- gets rid of all those blackheads!!!
Go on, get yourself booked in!

Ooooh exciting!

I have found a local Demalogica salon - i'm going to call them tomorrow!

Thanks everyone x

yes ggirl I had the blackhead one before, it was a cathiodermie one too so maybe it's a feature.

Sounds gross but really improves look of skin.

Should have one a month

bellissima · 28/12/2009 16:05

The blackhead one is good. the one's I don't like are those 'relaxing' ones where it ends up with a mask being put on and they disappear for a cuppa/chat and I lie there thinking ang on i could do this at home - for rather less dosh...

"my" beautician (oh if only she was!) gives me an amazing head massage while the mask is on- 20 mins of bliss

brimfull · 28/12/2009 16:10

i hate having my head massaged

I had a couple last year - Dermologica ones. Really lovely and my skin felt clean and glowing for a while afterwards. Unfortunately I can't afford to keep it up, or would definitely have one every month.

ggirl- weirdo!!!
No, I understand why- I love my feet being done too- dh would run a mile!!!

brimfull · 28/12/2009 16:26

i know, and every time I getmy hair cut I have to explain my aversion or sit and cringe at someone squeezing my head
