Just wasted an hour of my life looking at the new stuff on the Next website. Not all bad but some real shockers:
jumpsuit anyone?

minging.

they sent a horrible 'preview' catalogue just before christmas, which was just like Kays, with the floppy pages and everything. and nearly everything in it was vile. Next has been questionable for a while but recently it's gone right off

Chuffinnora · 27/12/2009 20:02

The model wearing that jumpsuit looks embarrassed. They should have blacked out her eyes to save her dignity.

I have never understood the Next thing. Why get up at 5am to go to the sale of what were moderately priced clothes to begin with?

jeep · 27/12/2009 20:04

was expecting something slightly classier

YouDontKnowMeFromAdam · 27/12/2009 20:07

I quite like that jumpsuit

YouDontKnowMeFromAdam · 27/12/2009 20:09

In fact scrub the . Why is your view more valuable than mine? I should have the courage of my convictions. Wouldn't actually wear it though

OllieWollieWoo · 27/12/2009 20:13

If its Jumpsuits you're after YDKMFA - check THESE out!

here

Next is rubbish these days- really gone downmarket compared with 2o years back when it was posh and quality.

Flame · 27/12/2009 20:22

That model looks like she is thinking "Wait til I see my agent...."

YouDontKnowMeFromAdam · 27/12/2009 20:25

Ollie, some of those aren't jumpsuits they're playsuits - what's the difference? I didn't check them out too closely but I have an awful feeling the playsuits were the ones with short legs - what kind of "playing" do these people have in mind?

The one in the original op is by far the nicest. Honestly if I was a size 6/8 I would wear it. Summer barbeque, garden party, perfect. What accessories though...?

OllieWollieWoo · 27/12/2009 20:35

Paper bag for head perhaps??? . Seriously tho, some people can just get away with wearing stuff like that and look fab. I, for one, do not!

OP posts:
YouDontKnowMeFromAdam · 27/12/2009 20:37

Me neither Ollie, me neither.

thatsnotmymonster · 27/12/2009 20:42

Why is it all summer stuff

I mean there's 3 feet of snow outside- 2 days past Christmas so does that mean we no longer need winter clothes?

kettlechip · 27/12/2009 20:47

Next is awful these days, cheap tat at not always cheap prices. Way too much acrylic for my liking too.

Heated · 27/12/2009 21:12

Are Next making big losses?

Can remember when the Next was aspirational and the catalogue came with fabric swatches.

borninabarn · 27/12/2009 21:49

Next is bad, I wouldn't shop there for me but I do get children's clothes there.

stressheaderic · 27/12/2009 22:02

Sweet Jesus - my eyes...

That jumpsuit is beyond horrific - even on a
6ft size 8 supermodel.

Some people act as if Next is the be all and end all of fashion and taste - I just don't get it. It's ok, but only one tiny step up from Tesco/George/Matalan in my opinion.

FunnyLittleFrog · 28/12/2009 12:12

I'd much rather buy clothes in Matalan. Same quality but half the price and you don't end up wearing exactly the same outfit as every other 30-50 year old in town.

Obv though it's nicer to save up and go to White Stuff instead!

MrsSeanBean · 28/12/2009 12:20

I went off Next about 8 years ago. I remember back in the 1990s it was THE 'label' to have though. According to some I guess it still is. I mean - 5am for a sale....?! I wouldn't even get up that early for Gucci (if I liked Gucci). Scuffles on the pavement, most undignified, hrmph.
[old git-ette emoticon]

bellissima · 28/12/2009 13:13

Yikes it's horrible! And is that some 'cool New York street' they've done the photo-shoot on? Bet the locals were in stitches. Still, since you can no longer go to the loo on the plane at least that solves the jump suit/toilet problem...

Cybilshoeboots · 28/12/2009 13:16

I actualy think that model looks cool in the harem jumpsuit.

Discliamer: Note I said 'that model'...anyone over a size 6 less than 6 foot tall would look like a sack of spuds

Twinkleandpearls · 28/12/2009 13:21

The legs are too short, one of my pet hates, I spend my life tutting at women whose trousers are too short.

BlackYellowRed · 28/12/2009 13:26

I got a £20 next vouchers for Christmas from MIL. Just been sat here going through the website trying to spend it. Most of it is so horrible. Might buy some t-shirts for DS instead :/

Divatheshopaholic · 28/12/2009 13:49

Thats what i thought when saw it last night
Next must sack the designer whoever did that jumpsuit and printed bizzarre stuff.

OllieWollieWoo · 28/12/2009 14:15

There is lots of odd printed stuff in there - there's a whole page of pieces in a boat print! Think the Next bigwigs must have had one of those visionary meetings and just said to the designers - think prints, think jumpsuits, think naff! (OK stuff for DSs tho - does that make me two faced???!!!!)

OP posts:
Divatheshopaholic · 28/12/2009 14:39

you mean this printed clothesshock
